Dead By Daylight has released a new game modifier similar to the Lights Out event from February called My Little Oni. In this new limited time modifier, released on April 1, 2024, the four Survivors, who are super tiny, can repair generators while trying not to get stomped on by the giant-sized Oni.

Is this a massive April Fool's joke on players by game devs? Possibly, but it's here, and it's available to play for a short time. And we've got you covered with some guidance on how to play the Modifier and some things you can expect from it.

This modifier only runs until April 3rd, 2024, so be sure to get in while you can!

How To Access The My Little Oni Modifier

Joining the modifier is separate from joining a regular, live match. When you log in to Dead By Daylight, select the My Little Oni Modifier. It's located in the upper left corner of the screen, underneath the Play option.

Once you select the modifier, you'll then be able to choose if you want to play as Killer or Survivor. Select your choice, then load into the match.

After you complete your first My Little Oni match, as either Killer or Survivor, you'll receive a new profile badge called Colossal Trials from the April Fools 2024 collection.

How To Play As Killer In My Little Oni

If you choose to play as Killer in the modifier, you'll play as The Oni. You won't be able to select any other killer. Neither can you change the cosmetics, access the bloodweb, or add any items to your loadout.

Once the match starts, find, chase, and hit survivors like you normally would. You can also break pallets dropped by survivors, and damage generators.

Since you're playing as the Oni, you'll have the ability to absorb blood released from injured survivors, which fills up your power gauge. Once the gauge is full, use it to trigger the Blood Fury state. This gives you two powerful attacks for as long as the Fury is active: Demon Dash and Demon Strike.

The main difference in this game mode, aside from the fact that the Survivors are really tiny and hard to see, is that once you've downed a Survivor, you can kill them straight away by stomping on them, rather than putting them on a hook.

If you normally have trouble getting kills as a killer in normal matches, this modifier makes it super easy to get those kills. If you have any challenges or dailies you haven't been able to complete, now would be the time to do it!

How To Play As Survivor In My Little Oni

If you choose to play as a survivor in My Little Oni, you can select any character that you currently own to play as. The only difference is, as with the Oni, you won't be able to choose any outfits, perks, addons, items, offerings, and you won't be able to access the bloodweb.

You'll start the match like you normally would, except you're tiny. The map itself is normal size, but you and your teammates are tiny, while the Oni is super-sized.

The goal in this modifier is the same as in a standard match, but with a twist. You and your fellow survivors need to repair three generators to power the exit gates and escape.

Each survivor begins the match with two scratch marks next to their profile. In a normal match, this would indicate that you've been hooked twice already and will be killed if you get hooked again.

In My Little Oni, this means that if you get caught and downed by the giant Oni, instead of hooked, he will just stomp you into the ground.

While you are able to drop pallets to stun the giant Oni, you aren't able to vault over them, nor can you vault over any windows or other vault points. You're just too tiny!

The only chance you have of surviving is by staying away from the giant Oni. You might get lucky if he decides to leave you after downing you, at which point another survivor can heal you, but the odds of that happening are rare.

Once the final generator is repaired, both exit gates will open instantly for you to escape. If, however, you are the last one left alive, you might be able to find the escape hatch and get out that way.

If you've been killed prematurely and are spectating the remaining survivors, you may see them run past your dead body where you got squashed.
