Dave The Diver Coming To PlayStation With Official Godzilla Crossover

Dave the Diver was pretty huge for developer Mintrocket, being nominated for multiple awards in multiple categories throughout 2023. Unfortunately, the game didn't come to PlayStation systems at the time of release, but Mintrocket is looking to change that with a new port. While we didn't get a confirmed release date, it was revealed that Dave the Diver will be hitting PlayStation systems at some point in April this year.
That probably wasn't the biggest shock during this particular announcement though, as shortly after we got the release window for Dave the Diver's PlayStation debut, the trailer then cut to the ocean to reveal that none other than Godzilla herself will be coming to the game in May this year, which is quite possibly one of the most unlikely crossovers you'll ever see from the industry.
As for what Godzilla will be doing whilst hanging out with Dave and the crew is currently unknown, though we do see an ever so brief look at Godzilla about to throw down with what appears to be a giant lobster of some kind. Honestly, if you're collaborating with Godzilla and don't include some kind of ridiculous Kaiju fight, then you're doing it all wrong. No release date for that collaboration either, apart from the May 2024 window, but at least PlayStation owners will get to experience it as well.
With this Godzilla collaboration, it seems as though Mintrocket is committed to supporting Dave the Diver for a while yet, having recently released a crossover with indie fishing horror title Dredge last month.
Dave the Diver coming to PlayStation was pretty big news for all you indie game fans out there, but the rest of the company's first State of Play for 2024 was very much focused on big blockbusters. For starters, we got our first look at some gameplay from the Silent Hill 2 Remake, which looks a lot more action-packed and chaotic than the original did, while we also got a shadowdrop for the long-rumored Silent Hill: The Short Message.
Hideo Kojima was also on hand to baffle everyone with a new trailer and title reveal for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which will have players taking on the role of Sam Porter Bridges once again, but this time coming into contact with demonic puppets, samurai robot babies, and a guitar-wielding Higgs. Kojima also surprised us all by announcing that he's working on a new "action espionage" title for PlayStation, one which is currently codenamed Physint and will be the "culmination" of his experience in the games industry.
