A typical RPG may have you thinking that you need to be tough and buff in order to survive, but games like Dark Souls 3 beg to differ. During such a harsh journey, you want to avoid getting hit as much as possible. Extra health is nice to have as a buffer for any mistakes you make, but a single hit can ruin your rhythm.

With this in mind, Dexterity is an important stat to consider. Not only does it allow you to wield a greater range of weapons, but it also reduces casting time and fall damage while raising your attack damage with related weapons. To make a Dexterity build, consider equipping complementary gear.
Aquamarine Dagger
This thin dagger has a blue tint from the aquamarine crystal that it has in its hilt. It's a weapon that was introduced in the Ringed City DLC. It comes with the Crystal Blade skill that lets it extend its blade to the length of a straight sword giving it greater range. Despite being a dagger, it has a longer reach than a short sword while still being faster.
In order to get this weapon, you'll need to make your way past the Dreg Heap Bonfire. Drop, cross the bridge, then turn left. Go up the spiral staircase and then up another set of stairs. You'll see the Harald Legion Knight fall and the dagger will be where he was standing.
Ringed Knight-Paired Greatswords
Another weapon that comes with the Ringed City DLC, these weapons are sometimes criticized for their overwhelming power. They are literally a pair of greatswords that have wide coverage and even better damage. Its Ember skill lets you land a very fast uppercut attack which you can follow up with a combo.
Its weight also gives it a higher Poise Health status which makes it harder to stagger. You can get these swords from the Ringed Knight enemy which can be found near the Cathedral.
Sellsword Twinblades
One of the few weapons that are able to carry you from the start to the end of the game, this dual-wielding option is about speed and mobility. They are swords that can deal out solid chunks of damage with quick hits that you can roll out of if you get carried away. It comes with the Spin Slash skill that swings both swords in a fast circle that you can spin again and then follow up with a combo.

There are multiple ways to get this weapon, with the first being to choose the Mercenary class during character creation. Another way is in the swamp section of the Road of Sacrifices, where it is hiding behind a Black Knight.
Crow Talons
Some would say that it's not wise to rely on hand-to-hand combat; these weapons may change your mind. By equipping these claws, you'll be the closest you can be to Wolverine in the Dark Souls universe. Though they don't have the best reach, they make up for it with speed and damage buildup.
They also have an unusual property that lets you glitch in a way that prevents fall damage. Their skill is Raptor Flurry which as the name implies unleashes a quick and devastating combo of slashes. You can get the claws from the Corvian Village. Search the rooftops until you find two Corvians standing guard. Defeat them to get the claws.
Drang Twinspears
Spears are all about keeping your distance while still being able to use precision strikes, so you should consider two of them. These spears are included in the base game and come with good range and power. Their skill is a Charge attack that thrust you forward with tremendous power and can be extended by timing another strong attack.
The spears' altered behavior is different in that they are more effective when they aren't infused with anything. To get them, you'll need to defeat the Drang Knight that wields them in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley.
Bloodlust
Katanas will always be a popular weapon in games with swords, and this one is notable for several reasons. Aside from having a cool name, it swings fast with a nice reach and solid damage. Its skill is Bloodlust which inflicts some damage and bleed buildup on your character in exchange for a 30 percent increase in physical attack damage and the ability to bleed.

Because of this, it's the most powerful katana in the game. Unfortunately, you'll need to earn it from the Mound-makers Covenant. Work your way up to the top rank by offering 10 Vertebra Shackles in order to get your hands on it.
Onikiri And Ubadachi
The only thing better than one katana is two katanas, especially if they're based on historical battles. This dual-wield option combines a long blade with a short blade giving you a balanced approach in terms of damage, reach, and speed.
It comes with the skill Onislayer which lets you cover the distance by leaping toward enemies and landing a vicious double strike on them. It's included in the base game and is dropped by Black Hand Kamui. You can find this enemy in the Grand Archives on the top floor.
Darkdrift
You can associate katanas with blood as well as darkness which is where this one is based. This is a weapon that first appeared in Dark Souls 2 and is found in the base game. It possesses strong scaling in both Strength and Dexterity making it generally effective. Additionally, it comes with inherent shield piercing with all of its attacks.
Its Darkdrift skill amplifies this with a forward lunge that pierces through any defense. You'll have to defeat Yuria of Londor in Firelink Shrine in order to get it during the main game. She moves fast, but if you lead her to the main entrance to the shrine, she won't be able to follow you through, and you can chip away at her health.
