The Arena is a small dungeon-like instance that pits you against waves of enemies, rewarding you more the longer you survive. Below, we'll take a look at everything you need to know about conquering the Arena.

How To Find And Enter The Arena

Close

The Arena is found in the Divine Era, to the west of Heoborea. From Heoborea, travel west through the Heoborean Forest, the Nomad Camp, the Wengari Fortress, Kolheim Pass, and finally to Champions' Gate, where the Arena is located.

To enter the Arena, you need an Arena Key. While these can drop from almost any enemy you kill, the best way by far to get them is to complete specific Monolith Echoes that reward them. These Monolith Echoes are indicated by a Key symbol, and are a surefire way to get an Arena Key.

Once you consume the Arena Key to enter the Arena, you won't get it back. This means if you die before completing the Arena, you will be immediately removed from the instance, and you'll need to get and use another Arena Key to enter again.

The Arena Mechanics, Explained

In the Arena, you will fight waves of enemies that increase in power in increments of five. Every five waves, the fight will pause, and you will be able to collect your loot before deciding to continue to harder waves or to escape the Arena.

At every 10 waves, the fight will pause again, but this time you will be able to select a modifier before you continue. These modifiers will have the final boss of the Arena drop different or more items, while increasing the stats of the enemies you face.

You can see a running total of the modifiers you've selected on the right side of the screen.

You will also move to a new Arena stage every 10 waves, traveling to a different map with new enemies. Most Arena stages have Shrines that spawn around the edges of the Arena; these won't carry over to the next map, so use them or lose them.

Once you reach wave 40, you will face the final boss of the Arena. There are three types of bosses you have the possibility of fighting, each modeled loosely after one of the playable classes. These bosses include the following.

  • Alfrig Wolfmaw - Primalist
  • The Crimson Blade - Rogue
  • Vaion the Arsenal - Sentinel

If you're familiar with playing any of these classes, you should have a pretty good idea of what to expect when fighting their associated boss in the Arena. Once you beat the Arena boss, you'll be able to collect all the loot you obtained through modifiers before leaving the instance.

The Endless Arena

The Endless Arena functions similarly to the normal arena, but there is no limit on the number of waves you can complete. Enemies and waves will continue to spawn until you die. A single boss enemy will appear at wave 90, instead of wave 40 like the normal Arena.

Additionally, you do not select modifiers in the Endless Arena every 10 waves. Instead, enemies scale with each new wave. This also means you won't get as many rewards from the boss when it spawns.

Enemies in the Endless Arena begin at your level, then progressively scale to level 100 over the first 80 waves.

Rather than loot or experience, the main purpose of the Endless Arena is to test your skills on the leaderboard. Every cycle, the top-performing Endless Arena players will be recorded on the leaderboard, allowing you to compete with others.
