It's been claimed in a new report that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is expected to launch on last-gen consoles, with GameStop preparing to take pre-orders for PS4 versions of the game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has been confirmed ahead of the game's full reveal following the Xbox Games Showcase next month, and a flurry of new information about the title has been making its way onto social media as a result. One such piece of information is the platforms that the game will be launching on, as while we know Black Ops 6 will come to PlayStation despite Xbox's acquisition of Activision, we're still not sure about whether the game will be exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Earlier today, reliable Call of Duty Twitter account CharlieIntel posted a screenshot of what appeared to be a GameStop listing for the PS4 version of Black Ops 6, though it was pretty difficult to properly verify. Thankfully, Insider Gaming has contacts at GameStop and the game's developers that have reportedly confirmed that the image is legitimate.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 Will Launch On PS4

In the image, we can see that listings for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PS4 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 have been included, though there isn't one for Xbox One. That doesn't mean it won't run on the system though, it just means that the compatibility between the Xbox One and Xbox Series X is much better than the PS4 and PS5 and doesn't need a separate version.

While this is currently unconfirmed, we can expect the platforms to be made official during the Call of Duty Direct next month, so you can rest easy knowing you don't have to upgrade for now. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's launch on PS4 isn't all that surprising either, as despite us being four years into this generation, a large portion of the PlayStation player base is still on PS4, as the company is struggling to get people to switch to PS5.

You can probably put that down to the lack of price cuts, system sellers, and genuine reasons to actually upgrade, but something tells me the PS5 and Xbox Series X exclusive release of GTA 6 next year may start tempting some of the bigger names like Call of Duty to start cutting off PS4 and Xbox One.
