The Sins Of The Flesh update for Cult Of The Lamb lets you encourage your Followers to acts of wantonness. Absolving them of their indiscreet deeds lets you use their harvested Sin to upgrade the village. However, even the Lamb can't get away with unfettered debauchery scot-free.

Letting the same Follower indulge their vices too often will lead to them becoming Damned and outcast from the flock. If you want them back, you'll have to find them out in the wilds and redeem them. It's a lot of work for a single Follower, but well worth it for the Sin you'll gain.

How Do Followers Become Damned?

Each time a Follower's Sin maxes out (as shown by the iridescent bar, similar to the red Loyalty bar), they'll become gripped by the dark forces of the Red Crown. Their eyes turn black, with red upside-down crosses in the place of pupils.

While in this state, Followers, don't work or pray, and will aimlessly wander the village. If the Lamb is present, they'll move toward you. Talking to the Follower will absolve them of their sins, giving the Lamb a Sin point to spend on upgrades.

Sin is gained through certain Rituals, imbibing beverages at the Drinkhouse, and dancing at the Drum Circle.

If the same Follower is overcome by sin three times, regardless of how long it takes between each incident, they will become Damned and teleport away from the Village. They will no longer appear on your Followers' list, and for all intents and purposes are no longer members of the Cult.

How To Save A Damned Follower

The next time you go on a Crusade, the Damned will accost you, joining your enemies in battle. Damned Followers make use of projectiles and dodge frequently; they also have more health than standard enemies, so they're likely to be the last one standing in most fights.

The same Damned Follower will continue to attack you throughout the Crusade, appearing in combat rooms. Once you've defeated them three times, the Lamb will absolve them and remove their Sin. This provides you with the third Sin point that they were holding, and sends the Follower back to the Indoctrination Stone at the Village. From there, you can return them to the Cult.

If you're feeling particularly devilish, invite the newly-redeemed cultist to be the guest of honor at a Cannibal's Feast. You'll get another Sin point and some fresh meat for the kitchen!
