10 X-Men: Reign Of Apocalypse

X-Men: Reign Of Apocalypse is a side-scrolling beat ‘em up game that was released in 2001. Set in an alternate universe, the X-Men return to a destroyed X-Mansion and find out this universe is under the control of Apocalypse.

To return home, they must defeat Apocalypse and his army of mutants and Sentinels. There are twelve distinct levels for you to fight through, with characters such as Wolverine, Cyclops, and Rogue, to name a few. You will fight through waves of enemies and at the end of each level there is a boss you must defeat like Magneto or familiar allies turned foe like Nightcrawler.

9 Teen Titans

The 2005 Teen Titans game is based on the animated series and is not to be confused with the console game of the same name that was released a year later. In this game, you will play as the Titans who are trying to stop clones of themselves created by Brother Blood.

There are six levels for you to play through as you follow the chaos of the H.I.V.E. in hopes of stopping any more destruction. You can play all five of the Teen Titans as you explore Titans Tower, H.I.V.E. Headquarters, and the city. Four of the levels include bosses, which are Gizmo, Mammoth, Jinx, and Brother Blood.

8 Spider-Man: Battle For New York

Based in the Ultimate universe, Spider-Man: Battle For New York is a prequel to Ultimate Spider-Man and follows both the main characters of Spider-Man and the Green Goblin. This 2006 action game re-imagines their first encounter and even has cutscenes drawn by Marvel artist Ron Lim. Norman Osborn finds out Spider-Man’s true identity and powers, which he tries to replicate, and goes wrong, turning him into the Green Goblin.

You will get to play as Spider-Man, who tries to stop the Green Goblin, fight against thugs, and save civilians. You will also get to play as the Goblin himself where you destroy objects and fight against S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. There is also a meter you must keep an eye on which tells you where to go next as the main characters and if you don't solve the problem before the meter runs out, the game is over.

7 Batman: Vengeance

Based on the animated series, The New Batman Adventures, Batman: Vengeance follows the titular character as he investigates the Joker’s apparent death. Different levels take you around Gotham as you face off against other villains and their schemes.

After watching the Joker die in an explosion, Batman still believes he is still alive and monitors Harley Quinn to find out the truth. You will also encounter the likes of Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, and the Joker’s goons throughout the game. Other characters like Batgirl and Jim Gordon make an appearance in the game. The voice cast for the show also voices the characters for the game.

6 The Invincible Iron Man

The Invincible Iron Man is a side-scrolling run-and-gun game in which Iron Man makes his first appearance on a handheld console. You will play as Iron Man, who is on the hunt to retrieve one of his stolen suits.

There are eight levels for you to make your way through as you fight against different enemies and three bosses, including Blizzard and the Crimson Dynamo.

5 Justice League Heroes: The Flash

Justice League Heroes: The Flash is a beat ‘em up game in which you play as Wally West, and covers what the Flash was doing during the Justice League Heroes game. The game will take you to different levels and settings as you help other members of the Justice League.

You will get to battle the likes of robots, criminals, and evil animals as you make your way into many iconic places, like Keystone City, S.T.A.R. Labs, and Themyscira. While the Flash is the only playable character in the game, there are NPCs that will assist you, such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow, and Black Canary.

4 X-Men 2: Wolverine’s Revenge

Wolverine and the X-Men are some of the most recognizable names from Marvel, so it’s no surprise that the X2 movie had a few games based on it. In this action beat ‘em up game, you play as Wolverine who needs to find out clues about his past. You will make your way through the Weapon X facility as you look for clues and battle against the guards.

You can use attacks with or without Wolverine's claws and even go into feral rage. There are quite a few characters who make an appearance, such as Professor X, who is voiced by Patrick Stewart, Magneto, Sabretooth, Wendigo, and Lady Deathstrike to name a few. While Hugh Jackman is on the cover art for the game, Mark Hamill is featured as the voice of Wolverine.

3 Ultimate Spider-Man

A sequel to the previous entry, Spider-Man: Battle for New York, Ultimate Spider-Man is a side-scrolling platformer that is based in the Ultimate universe. In the GBA version of this game, which differs from the other versions of this game, you will play through seven issues that contain three chapters each.

You will play both Spider-Man and Venom as the story is focused on the two characters. You will get to face off against two of the three antagonists of the game, which are Silver Sable and Carnage. There are many enemies to fight against and devour depending on who you are, and new moves and power-ups to gain for both characters as you advance through the game.

Based on the movie of the same name, Batman Begins is a stealth action-adventure game that focuses on and explores Batman’s first year. You follow the storyline of the movie as Batman as he learns to become the Bat of Gotham.

Spider-Man: Mysterio’s Menace is an action video game that is a standalone sequel to two different games. Following the events of Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro, you will investigate a series of crimes that take place all in one night.

The game has several stages where you maneuver around obstacles and enemies all while finding upgrades to enhance your abilities. At the end of each level, you will face off against a boss, such as Hammerhead, Big Wheel, Electro, Rhino, Scorpion, and Mysterio as the final boss.
