The AK74 is the second starter rifle in BattleBit Remastered alongside the M4A1, and it packs a powerful punch - particularly at close and medium range, with a fast TTK and higher damage than the M4. What you get in damage, though, is paid for in recoil.

This guide covers the best loadout for the AK74 - we focus on improving reload times, damage, and general overall power of the gun. We'll also cover some general info and tips about this rifle below.
Best AK74 Loadout
- Sight: Red Dot / Strikefire
- The sight you use on the AK is really up to you - but our favorites are the Red Dot and Strikefire. You can run Strikefire as your primary sight and the Red Dot as the side sight.
- Barrel: Heavy/Tactical
- The Heavy barrel adds more firepower to the already pretty powerful AK, by increasing your damage by 1.55 per shot. Bullet velocity is also increased. This comes at a cost of recoil control, but we'll cover that below. This barrel does require 330 kills to unlock.
- The Tactical has the best vertical recoil reduction for the AK74 and is unlocked earlier. This is great for beaming at range.
- Magazine: Quick A
- We run the Quick A on both AKs, the AK74 and the AK15. Reload times in BattleBit are generally slow, so if there's any way to improve that, you should take it, i.e, the Quick A magazine.
- Grip: Hera C Q R /Vertical Grip
- Again, this is a little bit of personal preference - the Hera C Q R reduces both Vertical and Horizontal recoil. Alternatively, you can take the Verticle Grip to focus solely on that more pronounced vertical control. Play a bit with both to see how you fare. Until later when you unlock these, you can use the B-25 URK.

AK74 Tips
- The AK74 has more vertical recoil than the M4, but it's a relatively straightforward pattern to learn if you want to control the recoil. It has minor horizontal kick that will spit out randomly while you're firing.
- This weapon is great at close to medium range, but even at distances over 120m you'll still manage to get a 5-6 shot kill. This makes picking up a 1.5x sight like the Strikefire to use as your main sight a great option. Use single fire or just tap fire for maximum effect.
- It's hard to say which starter rifle is best: the M4 or the AK. That's really up to you. The AK does a lot of damage but has more recoil during sustained spraying.
