A big part of Baldur's Gate 3's charm lies in its characters, who are as strikingly emotive as they are simply interesting to listen to. Whether it's the party members you spend every night at camp with or the oddballs you stumble across in town. So, months after release and as we cap off the year, fans are looking back at their favourite dialogue from all corners of the game.
What's your favourite dialogue option?
"The one in the bookshop where you're told the books prefer quiet," Raddatatta said. "You can shout something like, 'ARE YOU SENSITIVE BOOKS?' and then they blow up".
"In your eulogy, I'm going to call you a tw*t-soul," meb1995 put forward. As much as I didn't enjoy playing bard (thanks for all the emails), they do have some killer one-liners.
"There once was a Cleric of Gond, who had a very small wand," ISeeTheFnords added.
Different classes and species offer up different dialogue options, and if you decide to play as a barbarian, there's a certain scene that can get a little... meaner. Outside the goblin camp in Act 1, you can find a couple going to town in a barn. This usually ends in a fight (unless you're a bard and offer to write some Wattpad smut when you get back to Baldur's Gate), but how you initiate that fight can differ. For our brute-forced Karlachs of the world, nothing beats, "I'M LAUGHING AT YOUR PUNY RUNTING".
These are all great pics from fans, but I'd like to throw out an Orin line - "Yes, yes. Give me agony. Pluck me bone from socket. Stroke me with a jagged edge until my skin shreds wet and red."
Paladin also gets you some fun dialogue options, but the reactions are even better. Take speaking to Aunty Ethel, who if you use a paladin prompt will reply, "Gods alive, a paladin. You lot are drier than a shi*e in the noonday sun.”
Alternatively, "Release a giant fart". Not exactly dialogue but c'mon. Release a giant fart.
The meanest dialogue options are what seem to stick for fans, like going to a funeral and saying, "Nice corpse. What are you celebrating?" Bit insensitive.
Then there are the ones that just go hard. "I don't kneel to false gods" and "Your god, my oath. We'll see who prevails" popped up several times in the thread.
There's a lot of good dialogue in Baldur's Gate 3 and the thread only scratches the surface, but I'll leave you with another that got shared a few times, "Woof".
