Gamers Cry Over Male Baldur's Gate 3 Characters Hitting On Them

Baldur's Gate 3 is a hit so far, amassing way more players than Larian Studios was expecting. But as it climbs through the Steam charts, there was no way that it was going to please everyone. Lo and behold, a few days after launch, a group of gamers have come together to share their grievances with the ultra-popular RPG. It just so happens that these grievances are pretty daft.
On Steam, dudebros are crying that other male characters are hitting on them. Yes, they know you can just shoot them down, but that's not good enough, apparently. The fact that male characters would even assume they swing that way is enough to cause offence. I mean, a guy hitting on your when you're not interested? Must be awful, we can only imagine.

"Are there no straight characters in this game?" asks a Steam user. "Literally every character can be seduced and hits on you constantly. This is immersion breaking.
"Let us select whether or not we're straight in the character creator. Have the party acknowledge you're not gay, so you don't have to perpetually put down and stave off every male hitting on you."
I'm not quite sure what this guy means by "immersion breaking", particularly since the alternative would be everyone pinning their sexuality to their forehead. But this message has resonated with other players.
"The game just isn't fun when everyone around you constantly wants to gloryhole your character...that is NOT D&D," says one commenter. "Agree 100%, and it's gonna get worse unless we purge them," ominously replies another.
Common sense does prevail in many of the comments, highlighting that the player is free to enter a heterosexual relationship if they so choose. Others say that they like Baldur's Gate 3's way of handling things since it means you'll never be locked out of a romance based on something you can't change about your character.
Nonetheless, Larian should heed these warnings. As we all know, if you go woke, you go broke. I'm sure the devs will listen to this feedback when they get the chance, they're just a bit busy working on hotfixes for the more than 700,000 fans that have been playing on Steam alone. After that, they better scan over some of the reviews, since they only managed to score a paltry 94 on Metacritic.
Now, just for a laugh, here are a collection of comments I found both on this Steam post, and Metacritic.
- "What Larian deserves is a big middle finger as BG3 is full on woke. Just wait till you play it and realise every other char is gay or a girl boss."
- "It's only going to get worse with companies hiring woke activists."
- "Nothing wrong with some HLA (hot lesbian action) but ya can't have dudes trying to play touch butt with other dudes. I dunno what Larian was thinking with that."
- "This will be the last game I buy. I do not wanna be deepthroated again."
Truly, these are the critics that will see gaming treated as the art form it is, elevating it beyond our wildest expectations.
