PostsThere are a few changes from a solo save to a multiplayer save, but you can always switch back and forth as needed to keep the business running. Here's everything you need to know to ensure you all enjoy your time at work in the tavern and exploring the world around your fine establishment.
How To Join Multiplayer Taverns
When you launch Ale & Tale: Tavern, you can choose to play the game in the default setting or in offline mode. Choosing the default setting allows you to access the multiplayer menu on the start screen.
As a host, you need only have the tavern save open to start inviting your friends through Steam. If you're looking to join a friend's world, select the 'Join' option from the main menu and refresh until you see the desired world.
You can toggle whether or not invites and accepted players are restricted to friends only!
Once you find the right world, join in the fun. It can take a few moments to connect, but you'll soon be dropped right outside the tavern.
How To Run A Tavern With Friends
The main benefit to having friends join you is that you can divide up the tasks needed to keep the tavern running. With the ability to have up to four players, you can have one person cook, one person serve, one person clean, and one person run deliveries.
An extra set of hands makes all the difference during operating hours for the tavern. You all share a single income, and you can use the dish places on the counter, along with mug and plate shelves, to easily swap items so everyone can access what they need.
Along the wall to the back door, you'll find a row of backpacks. This is where each player's inventory goes when offline.
Each player can interact with the furniture in the tavern to move it around and design the most efficient system, so make sure to communicate and keep enough space in storage. You can even ring the bell on the counter to let your friends know that dishes are ready!
How To Handle Combat With Friends
Another benefit to having friends is that combat is much easier. You can tag team enemies to ensure at least one of you survives the encounter, so make sure that you're all prepared before setting off.
While combat is easier with more people, there are additional enemies added to encounters for each player online.
Additionally, any quests you undertake are shared, so don't leave anyone out when going to talk to important NPCs.
Those who love melee combat can get up close with bears and zombies while others can hang back with the crossbow or musket for some ranged attacks. Cooperation is key, and communicating your plan of attack will ensure victory.
