Here are some beginner tips to get you started in Abiotic Factor.
PostsThe ideal base you choose ultimately depends on your playstyle. However, there are some areas which offer a decent balance between accessibility, proximity to resources, and defense. The following are some of the prime locations you can set up within the game, from secure early-game hideouts to central hubs for seasoned explorers.
7 Cafeteria Security Office
Located close to the atrium, this is one of the best locations that you can utilize early on. It's a relatively large room with enough space to set up your essentials. One of the main advantages of this area is that it has few openings, which, when barricaded, makes it easier to defend against enemies.
The cafeteria itself has stockpiles of emergency rations or pre-packaged meals, providing a valuable source of food in the early game. You might also find utensils, plates, pots and pans for cooking any scavenged food or preparing rations. The rations and potential cooking supplies can help you sustain yourself during the initial exploration phases.
6 Level 3 Break Room
This break room is located between Silo two and Silo three on the third office level. It is a large open area with a kitchen, bathrooms, and functional vending machines. It is conveniently situated near offices, offering additional space to craft or store your materials. The area also provides a large expanse, which enables you to see enemies as they are approaching and use ranged weapons to deter them.
There is a robot that randomly spawns here and so you should always be prepared for a fight when coming back to the base. You can also use work benches to despawn the robot.
You will, however, need to craft beds or sleeping bags for rest and health regeneration since the break room only has chairs or sofas. While potentially more secure than lower levels, the area might still be vulnerable to hostile entities, and so it is recommended to fortify your base with additional barricades and turrets.
5 The Tram Stations
Tram Stations in the game act as hubs, allowing quick access to various areas, exploration and resource gathering. They have open spaces with good sightlines that enable you to spot threats from afar. Tram stations at higher levels or restricted areas also have hidden maintenance tunnels, storage lockers, and secret rooms where you can stash your valuables to create a more secure and stocked base.

PostsWhile it may seem like an unconventional approach, setting up a base in these locations can be a tactical move because the entire terrain can be incorporated into your defenses. You can make use of the existing pillars, railings, or even tracks to create choke points, deployable cover, or even environmental hazards to deter enemies.
4 The Security Office
This is one of the most common areas to set up a base, and with good reason. The Security Office has fewer access points compared to open areas, which creates choke points that you can fortify with traps, barricades, or even automated turrets. The office also has close access to some major areas in the game, such as Silo two and Manufacturing, as well as a fair share of medical supplies and a power supply.
This is a restricted area, and you will need clearance to access it.
You will also find functional amenities such as security computers, which might hold valuable information about the Abiotic Factor, security protocols, and even access codes for restricted areas. The area gives you a relatively large space to set up beds and storage areas for your items, but keep in mind that you have to modify the area to suit your preferences.
3 The Gym and Kitchen
If you prefer a well-rounded base that feels more like home, then this is the perfect location. The kitchen in this area contains power, a stove, and refrigerators that you can use to store and prepare scavenged food or rations. There are also adjacent areas such as the bathroom and the locker rooms, which can be used as bedrooms or storage zones.
The gym has a pool within and open spaces suitable for setting up crafting stations for weapon maintenance, armor repair, and tool creation as you progress through the game. You can also use the good line of sight provided by the open layout to spot approaching threats and prepare defenses.
2 Level 2 Elevator
The Level 2 Elevator in Abiotic Factor can be an interesting base location, especially if you prioritize mobility and strategic defense. The elevator offers a defensible position, surrounded by metal walls on most sides, which can limit enemy attacks and allow you to focus your defenses on a single point of entry.

PostsYou will notice that there is no space for crafting stations within the elevator, but you might be able to relocate crafting stations you have in the game and set them up on a nearby level while maintaining easy access via the elevator. You'll need to be creative when finding resting spots on nearby floors, and you can utilize cover or shadows.
1 The Analysis Office
The Analysis Office is an area located next to Silo three. It is large, with multiple zones surrounded by walls, security doors, and major power points. The area has a fair share of items you can use, but the specific amenities you are going to find here will appear randomly in the game.
There is a lot of space that you can modify and use to set up storage areas, as well as scouting locales to check surrounding areas for enemies. Note that monsters don’t spawn in the office but roam outside it, so you may want to set up turrets at the doors.
