If you're trying to build a character that can learn all the best Destruction spells in Oblivion Remastered, prepare to spend plenty of time leveling up your Destruction skill. While you can use simple spells like Shock and similar early-game spells, most of the most powerful Destruction spells become available at the Expert level.

PostsHowever, even though higher-level spells offer superior damage, we've included some options for those who still need to get past the Journeyman rank. The best Destruction spells in Oblivion Remastered include a variety of high-impact spells alongside workhorse options that you can rely on from the early stages.
8 Entropic Bolt
Destruction is one of the best schools of magic to prioritize investing in, as you'll frequently use your spells in combat and level up quickly if magic is your primary source of damage. However, during the early stages of the game, you won't have access to the plethora of powerful spells that you do at the Expert and Master ranks.
Entropic Bolt is a great catch-all starter spell to use for leveling up your skill, as it presents two key benefits: accessibility and versatility. Entropic Bolt is an Apprentice-level spell that does ten direct damage to an enemy's HP, so you don't have to worry about using a frost, fire, or Shock spell that might be resisted.
7 Disintegrate Armor
If you're aiming for a Spellsword build in Oblivion Remastered, then Disintegrate Armor is a fantastic Destruction spell to keep on hand. This spell will tear through any armor, damaging it for 100 points, and allowing your melee and follow-up Destruction spells to hit even harder.
A great combination is to cast this spell on a target, then immediately follow up with some melee slashes. If executed correctly, you should slice through most armored enemies like a knife through butter, making you more lethal in combat while keeping you safe, since your enemies barely have time to counterattack.
6 Shock
If you want a bit more damage in the early game than Entropic Bolt can provide, then Shock is a fantastic alternative, as perhaps the most useful element in the game. Shock avoids being resisted by common enemies like Daedra and Flame Atronachs, making it a solid option for most enemies you'll encounter.

Posts20 Shock damage is very powerful in the early stages of the game, and this spell will serve you incredibly well as you advance ranks up towards Expert. If you could only use one spell to get you up to Destruction level 75, then Shock would be an excellent choice to stick to.
5 Withering Bolt
Once you've opened up access to the larger variety of Destruction spells that come with the Expert rank, Withering Bolt is one of the first spells you should buy.
You can buy this and many of the best Destruction spells in Oblivion Remastered from Adrienne Berene in the Skingrad Mages Guild.
Much like its weaker cousin, Entropic Bolt, this spell will bypass any resistances that your foes may have, instead directly reducing their HP for guaranteed damage. Sadly, the tradeoff is lower damage, but the guaranteed effectiveness is appreciated.
4 Flame Tempest
Flame Tempest is an incredibly strong Destruction spell, offering 75 points of damage within 15 feet of the spell's point of contact. While this area-of-effect (AoE) bonus sounds extremely helpful in practice, it can be a very dangerous effect if you're fighting enemies close to allies.
You should never use this spell (or any AoE spell) around any guards or in cities, or you risk angering someone or killing an NPC by mistake.
While its practical applications are best suited for looting dungeons alone or fighting enemies in open areas, the limitations on the use cases for this spell make it a strong-but-specific option.
3 Lightning Surge
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Lightning Surge offers 80 points of shock damage on touch, which will ensure that only the person you want to attack will be hurt. This stylistic shift from AoE spells might feel more limiting, but touch spells are incredibly useful when fighting alongside allies or in close quarters.

PostsSince touch spells require you to be close to your adversaries, there's always an element of risk, but at least you won't have to worry about killing innocent bystanders when you're attacked by Mythic Dawn agents in the Imperial City.
2 Finger Of The Mountain
From one Shock-based spell to another, Finger Of The Mountain is a unique spell that you'll receive from Teekeeus for completing the Fingers Of The Mountain side quest. While this spell is incredibly hard to cast due to its high Magicka cost, its effects scale to your level, so you can use it fairly early if you invest heavily in Intelligence and Destruction.
This spell can inflict a maximum of 200 Shock damage in ten feet around the target at level 26 or above, but at that point, the cost to cast might require impressive dedication to spellcasting unless you start with a Dark Elf or another class with inherent Magicka advantages.
1 Blizzard
When it comes to pure damage-dealing, it's hard to ignore Blizzard's impressive power and even higher cost. While you'll need to save plenty of gold to afford this powerful Destruction spell, its 75 points of damage within 20 feet of the target will eviscerate most groups of mob-tier enemies.
While you can get similar versions of this spell in both shock and fire elements, Blizzard's overall visual appeal is stunning, and it stands out as the strongest frost Destruction spell for AoE damage. While circumstances may require different elemental magic, this is a great option for general use.
