Summary

  • No Man's Sky fan u/Wide-Wall7380 has recreated the Helldivers 2 ship without using mods.
  • What's more, they built it in the air, using a tower of walls to reach the atmosphere.
  • And to round out the build, they even customised their armour to resemble the Helldivers troops.

The No Man's Sky community are a talented bunch, and there's no shortage of impressive builds to be found on the forums and subreddit, stretching the boundaries of what's possible in Hello Games' sandbox.

Take u/Wide-Wall7380's newest creation, an incredibly accurate rendition of the Super Destroyer from Helldivers 2, complete with the instantly recognisable bridge and its holographic globe where players have charted countless missions to spread democracy across the galaxy.

It took 5,406 parts to construct the Super Destroyer.

While you're only supposed to be able to build on the ground in NMS, that wasn't nearly good enough for u/Wide-Wall-7380, who wanted their Star Destroyer to be in the air, flying above the battlefield as it does in Helldivers 2.

So, they built it in the air, which is a tricky process that required "a tower of walls" to reach a high enough altitude, which they then had to remove, leaving in their place a floating base. But the hassle was absolutely worth it, as it's easily among one of the more impressive builds to come out of the game since it first launched in 2016.

"Named The SES Harbringer Of Family Values For Good Measure"

You could, in theory, take things a step further and build a functioning Super Destroyer, rather than a base, by using freighters. However, as u/Shegrasidar noted, only "The interiors of freighters can be customised," as "the exteriors are limited to just changing colours." So, it would only resemble the Helldivers 2 ship from the inside, hardly as impressive a feat as what u/Wide-Wall7380 pulled off.

But it's not just the ship that they've recreated. As you can see in the screenshots embedded above, they also customised their armour to resemble the iconic Helldivers troops, which (if you're feeling inspired) is a lot easier to pull off than recreating an enormous ship mid-flight.
