Aside from a homage to fan favorite Mii Matt, Nintendo mostly left Miis in the past for Nintendo Switch Sports. Now the series is set to return on Switch 2, and clearly Nintendo listened, as it looks like Miis are back. However, after you get a good look at one, you might start to regret what you wished for.

We knew traditional Miis were making a comeback in Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, but we weren’t shown how their bodies might look. Well, thanks to a Reddit post spotted by VGC, which features a snapshot of newly revealed Sports Resport info from a Japanese magazine, now we do.

Oh Mii, How You've Grown

Turns out Miis have been growing while they’ve been away. The feature shows a Mii standing alongside the style of character they were replaced by in Nintendo Switch Sports. Since those replacements are a lot taller and far more like regular humans, Nintendo has had to stretch their Miis to match them, and the end result is a little weird.

For the most part, the pictured Mii looks the same as the Miis of old. The face with the basic features, the little round hands, everything you want in a Mii remains. However, their body and limbs have been stretched, and even though the original post has been deleted, the comments poking fun at Nintendo’s next-gen Miis remain.

Weird Mario-Looking Mii

The top comment compares the Miis’ new look to Weird Mario. Weird Mario is a form the plumber can take in Super Mario Maker should he eat a Weird Mushroom. Mario becomes much taller and slimmer, much like the new Mii. Another commenter claims the Miis have been “Fortniteified”. Not sure I’d go that far, although I’ve got some V-Bucks to throw Epic’s way if this ends up being the one Nintendo skin we get in Fortnite.

Miis have never been wiped from existence entirely. They were lurking in the original Switch Sports, and they continue to exist in games like Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream. It’s the new bodies that have made Mii fans wince, but for the game to make sense, that kind of has to happen. Otherwise you’d have human-like characters going up against big-headed little guys, which, as I’m typing it, I realize I want much more than stretched-out average-height Miis.

Whether or not we will have full autonomy over how our Miis look, and maybe even how tall they are, might not be fully revealed until Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is released exclusively on Switch 2 this September.
