Nintendo Is Opening An Official Store In San Francisco In 2025

Summary
- Nintendo will open a second U.S. store in San Francisco in 2025.
- The Nintendo Store not only sells games and merchandise but also features displays of iconic characters and consoles.
- Nintendo is expanding beyond video games with its movies, theme parks and now, a second store.
Nintendo is continuing its push beyond the realm of video games with its announcement that a second flagship store will be opening in the United States. The store, appropriately titled Nintendo San Francisco, will be in San Francisco's Union Square, per the company. It is set to open in 2025.
The gaming giant made the announcement on Friday, saying that its new store will provide "a way for a wide range of visitors from near and far to experience the world of Nintendo, its products, and characters." Its first store, which is in New York City, opened its doors in 2005, so if all goes to plan, the second Nintendo store will open two decades after the first.

PostsWhat Exactly Is The Nintendo Store?
The Nintendo Store offers exactly what its name implies. There's a wide array of video games, accessories, merchandise and hardware available for purchase. But that's not all.
Because it's a two-level store, there's a lot more than merchandise on display. There are some sweet statues of Mario and Luigi as well as Pikachu. Additionally, there's an entire display of every Nintendo console ever created.
More so, at any given time, the store will be taken over by a marquee release and feature stuff from that game. Case in point, this awesome Link statue during the launch of Tears of the Kingdom. Check it out:
The store will also occasionally host launch events for Nintendo products or have exclusive editions of games for sale. Recently, the New York store was the only U.S.-based locale to have the GameCube slip cover of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
It's only fair to assume that when the San Francisco store does open, similar editions will also be for sale over there, too.
Nintendo Is Increasing Its Presence Beyond Video Games
A new flagship store should come as no surprise given Nintendo's involvement in increasing its presence. For starters, Universal Studios Hollywood is home to Super Nintendo World, where fans can experience Mario's universe come to life.
A second Super Nintendo World will open at the Universal Studios Orlando location in 2025. It'll be similar to the Hollywood edition, but with some added bonuses, like a fully realized Donkey Kong Country.
Elsewhere, Nintendo released its Super Mario Bros. movie to critical and fan acclaim in 2023. A live-action Legend of Zelda will soon follow. And Chris Pratt believes a Mario sequel will kickstart the Nintendo Cinematic Universe, or NCU.
All this is to say, Nintendo is continuing its massive non-gaming push, and we're all here for it.
