While Junpei has taken a shining to her, Chidori Yoshino has been causing more than a few problems for you so far in Persona 3 Portable. And after months of checking on her in the hospital and listening to her wax poetic about death, the time has finally come to take her on yourself.

But this battle will hardly be what you’re expecting – it pops up out of the blue and is a bit peculiar in its difficulty. If you need a bit of help with the battle against Chidori Yoshino in Persona 3 Portable, our guide’s got you covered.
This guide will contain spoilers for elements of Persona 3 Portable.
Chidori Battle Setup
The battle against Chidori sort of crops up suddenly, so you'll want to be prepared. She engages the team in battle on 11/22.
Recommended Party
Though it’s odd for what feels like a major boss fight, we don’t have a specific team setup for you in this battle. However, note that Junpei is not present to join the team.
Chidori is a relatively easy boss, without a lot of HP to deplete before she goes down. Therefore, if you just bring whoever on your team is strongest, you’ll be in good shape.
Anyone with a -dyne level skill will come in handy here, regardless of your game difficulty.
Recommended Level And Personas
Chidori is a Lv. 54 boss, so entering the fight between Lv. 50-55 will be more than sufficient to handle what’s ahead.
As for specific Personas, you may have access to ultimate Personas by now as you max out your social links. If you have access to Odin, who is the ultimate Persona of the Emperor arcana, you’ll be in great shape.
Thunder Reign is Odin’s signature move, which he learns at Lv. 63.
This move not only dishes out severe electric damage to whatever it hits, but it’s also guaranteed to inflict shock if the attack lands.
Between the damage done by the move itself and the shock leaving her open for crit-hits, Thunder Reign is a fast way to end the fight.
But if you don’t have Odin yet, don’t worry. Since Chidori doesn’t have much HP, any strong Persona with heavy-level attacks will be fine here.

Chidori Yoshino Battle Strategy
It feels a little unfair to Chidori, but the battle against her is more of a plot point than an actual fight.
The heavy implication throughout P3P is that the members Strega aren’t as strong as SEES, since they didn’t awaken to their Personas naturally.
Between that and her general disinterest in fighting the group, players often defeat Chidori before she even gets a turn in battle, regardless of your difficulty setting.
Starting with a max of only 1,200HP (strikingly low, considering that your last boss, Arcana Hanged Man, had 5,500), Chidori won’t put up much of a fight.
Whether she’s meant to tide players over with the lack of a Full Moon Operation coming or to just pluck at your heartstrings, you won’t be in this battle for long.
If you elect to start with your strongest attacks of any element except fire, it’s likely that Chidori will go down before she gets to fight back.
If you have Thunder Reign already, you’re able to inflict shock on your first turn, which opens Chidori up for critical hits while she’s out of commission.
If you perform an All-Out Attack even once to follow it, it’s entirely likely that you’ll defeat Chidori ina single move.
How To Save Chidori
While it’s in a similar vein to another character you can sort of save from their fate in P3P, you’re able to canonically stop Chidori from dying after the fight with SEES.
However, doing so requires planning aheadby speaking to Junpei on set dates. You’ll encourage him to go see her at the hospital during these conversations.
You must speak to Junpei on each of these dates in order to revive Chidori:
- 11/06
- 11/11
- 11/14
- 11/22
If Junpei goes to the hospital to see Chidori on all four occasions, the fight will still proceed as intended with the fusion of Hermes and Medea as it is in the standard game.
However, if you’ve sent Junpei to see Chidori those four times, Chidori will be revived later in the game on 1/21.
Beware that if you do elect to revive Chidori, you will lose 1/21 as a social link day. It falls on a Thursday.
In the final stretch of the game, this may be a deal-breaker for you if you're trying to finish a social link at the last minute.
