Mortal Shell is a challenging game, and you want to take every advantage you can get. The first one is trying to find all the classes (Shells) so that at least you have options. Next, you'll want to find all the weapons to get a feel for a play style that works for you.

Even so, these are just the essentials, when what you really want is something that feels empowering. You'll need to find the rare Quenching Acid to upgrade your weapons. It won't always be directly in your path, so here's where you'll need to go to find all of them.

Buy Them From Vlas

Fallgrim Tower

After you arrive at Fallgrim Tower, you can go up the stairs to the open-top floor. While there, you can talk to Vlas the Merchant. He has a diverse stock of items and goods, some of which you can only get from him. His stock also includes two lamps of Quenching Acid, each costing 2500 Tar. This is a pretty hefty price, so you should only resort to this after you've bought some new abilities or if you really need a weapon upgrade.

Buy From Sester Genessa (New Game+ Only)

Fallgrim Tower

Beating the game and Ascending will unlock New Game+. You know the drill: Enemies are tougher and more numerous, and you start off with everything you had previously. There will also be new features unlocked, notably that Sester Genessa will have an improved stock that includes eight lamps of Quenching Acid. Each one will cost you 10 Glimpses so be prepared to do some grinding if you want to get them all.

Fallgrim Campsite

On Path To The Shrine Of Ash

You can find this lamp of Quenching Acid on your way to the fire temple area of the game. There will be a ramp leading to the outskirts of it called the Temple Grounds. Before you reach that ramp, look for a small campsite nearby. You'll find the Acid there.

Fallgrim Frog Chest

Outside Fallgrim Tower

You'll need the Mist for this one. You can try to get it after you collect a Sacred Gland, but it may be safer to just talk to Thestus. Once the Mist is active, look around Fallgrim Tower for a ramp leading into it as well as a cave nearby. The Frog Statue along it will have Acid in it.

Defeat Hadern... Again

At The Entrance Of Every Dungeon Area

Another effect of New Game+ is that all the Hadern fights become available again. Although you'll likely have all the weapons unlocked from completing the base game, you can still fight Hadern who will be wielding said weapons depending on location. There are three of these fights, and each victory will net you a lamp of Quenching Acid.

Open A Chest In The Eternal Narthex

Behind The Second Torch

When you're exploring the colossal fortress area, you'll start in a wide open space full of large obsidian structures, stairs, platforms, and teleporters. One of the puzzles to progress requires you to activate several torches scattered throughout the area. There will be a torch protected by several ranged Sesters which you should defeat to make things easier. After you do, comb the nearby walls to find another area with more Sesters. Defeat them all to gain access to a chest with the Acid.

Get Past Brether Corvid

On The Way To The Shifting Archives

The next big part of the fortress area is called the Dim Gate, which is defined by a lot of open air, stairs, and floating platforms. You'll come across a large platform with a kneeling-robed figure on an edge. This is Brether Corvid, an NPC you can use as a marker. Look for a ramp past his location that leads to a new area called the Shifting Archives. Beneath this ramp will be the Acid.

Jumping Down Platforms and Walkways

Dim Gate Shortcut

As you make your way further up the Dim Gate. Eventually, you'll gain access to an elevator which will take you back to Sester Genessa at the start, unlocking a shortcut. Take the elevator back up and use the teleporter nearby. Go to the other side in the new area and use another teleporter. When you arrive, take the nearby ramp down and head towards the nearby platforms. Keep jumping down to reach a chest with the Acid inside. From here, unless you have high Durability or the Recollection Of Knowledge skill, you'll take fatal damage jumping back down to Sester Genessa.

Check the Shrine Of Ash Iron Maidens

Along The Walls Of The Temple Grounds

When you enter the Temple Grounds area, you'll be wandering around interconnecting chambers of stone. Make sure you take note of certain features so that you don't get lost. While exploring, you'll encounter iron maidens around the area. Open them up for a chance at items, but always keep your distance for safety. Two lamps of Acid are hidden inside them.

Defeat The Enemy Guarding A Chest

Side Room Before The Enslaved Grisha

The ice area of Mortal Shell is probably the brightest in the whole game and thankfully there isn't a lot of sliding around. When you inside the temple area of it, you'll come across a vast open chamber with an Enslaved Grisha standing at the center. This fight is mandatory but stop at the ramp leading up to it. Search around that area for a chest guarded by a stalker enemy. Defeat it and claim the acid.

Defeat Ghosts Guarding A Chest

Small Cave Past The Tunnel By The Shortcut Stairs

The inner sanctum of the ice area is very icy with hidden nooks and crannies around. After you get to a staircase leading up into the rocks hugging the right side, look nearby for a small crawlspace by a torch after passing through an icy tunnel. Crawl through the tunnel until you come across two black ghosts guarding a chest. Defeat the ghosts, and you can claim this lamp of Acid from it.
