Summary
- Mortal Kombat 1 seasonal towers have always been controversial, but with the grind being made even worse, fans are at their limit.
- The modifiers make things incredibly difficult, so you need to either craft some overpowered talismans or beat the entire mode with one character to get them strong enough.
Mortal Kombat 1 completely revamped how towers work. You still have the standard story ones, but the seasonal, daily, and weekly towers that used to be under the Towers of Time umbrella are tied to the new Invasions mode, something that has proven incredibly unpopular since launch.
But now fans have reached boiling point as these towers have grown progressively harder with increasingly tedious modifiers thrown into the mix and even more grinding for the necessary materials to offset the difficulty.

As one fan points out, it's $20 more than Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

"We've had to resort to trying to forge the best talismans possible through hours of farming just to get skins that are locked behind even more hours of grinding.
I literally can't even get past level 33 of the towers because the tower effects are so deadly that if I get hit four times (with the saws being unblockable BTW), I die.
"Last season was barely even doable with how little Dragon Blood we were able to find. This season, NRS completely removed the komponents from stores, so now you have to farm for RANDOM drops of komponents [...] Please improve on this aspect of Invasions to make it actually fun and worth doing".
Mortal Kombat 1 Fans Are Fed Up With Crafting
A big part of the problem is the crafting system. In Invasions, you gather materials each season to craft talismans, which offer bonuses like increased damage and charges. You can then upgrade these with Dragon's Blood, Dragon Medallions, Hourglasses, Focus Bands, And Aura Lenses, but these are rare komponents that you have to grind for. Towers in themselves are a grind, so it's all one big grind to make grinding easier.
"I would agree they broke crafting. But I would also say it was broken from the get-go: grinding dozens of hours just to craft a talisman to get you through the [seasonal tower] is just bad game design," commented one player. "Check out other games like Fortnite - they do not make you jump through such painful/tedious/impossible flaming hoops."
The alternative to talismans is to complete the entire Invasions mode each season with one character to use all of the herbs and resistances, but that in itself is a repetitive grind. It's hardly the most rewarding way to get new cosmetics.
