Summary

  • Monster Hunter Wilds and Street Fighter are crossing over on May 28, 2025.
  • Armor that turns out into Akuma will be added to the game for free, along with a Blanka-Chan outfit for your Palico.
  • There will also be Chun-Li and Cammy outfits added to the game on the same day as paid DLC.

Two of Capcom's biggest series will collide next week. The studio has revealed a collaboration between Monster Hunter Wilds and Street Fighter 6, and the best parts of the crossover will be free to all Wilds' players.

Capcom announced the crossover, including a trailer which mostly shows iconic Street Fighter character Akuma using his feet and his fists - and occasionally a gun - to take down monsters much larger than he is. That was never going to stop him from battling through, and starting from May 28, 2025, you too will be able to hunt monsters as Akuma.

The good times keep rolling for Wilds.

The Akuma full armor set and matching layered equipment will be added to Monster Hunter Wilds on all platforms on May 28. There's a moment in the trailer where "KO, Akuma wins" appears on screen with a matching Street Fighter-style narrator announcement. The press reveal doesn't clarify if that happens whenever you fell a monster as Akuma, but man, I sure hope it does.

Unlock The Free Armor From May 28

Even if it doesn't, there is more than just Akuma armor coming to Wilds via next week's free update. You will also get a goofy Blanca-chan outfit for your Palico sidekick. No, they won't become Blanka, but the cartoony take on the character, who has been a core part of the Street Fighter roster since Street Fighter 2, is a lot more fitting for a Palico than the real thing.

There is a caveat, but it's a relatively minor one, especially if you have been playing Wilds, even just casually, since launch. The Akuma and Blanka-Chan gear won't be added automatically. You will need to complete a new mission called Ultimate Strength, to unlock it. Only those who are HR 21 or higher will be able to embark on the new quest, and you will need to talk to the Vespae Unit handler, at the Oilwell Basin Base Camp to get started.

There will be more Street Fighter content added to Monster Hunter Wilds on May 28, but the rest of it is stuff you're going to have to pay for. The paid DLC will include new outfits for Alma - one based on Chun-Li, and a second that will make her look like Street Fighter's Cammy. Along with the new outfits, you'll also get a Blanka-Chan doll that matches your Palico, Street Fighter stickers, and gestures pulled from Capcom's iconic fighting series.
