New Game Plus, Explained
When it comes to Metaphor: ReFantazio's New Game Plus, there's good news and there's bad news. (Well, at least, if you were hoping for the same things we were.) Although ample things carry over between playthroughs, there's only one newly-unlocked thing.
Granted, that sole fresh encounter is one of the hardest fights in the game, and you will want to be at a very high level again before taking it on. But the more interesting stuff, by far, is what you'll bring with you.
What Carries Over
The following aspects of your clear file will be brought forward to new playthroughs by selecting the star-marked game clear file:
- Your total reeve.
- Your remaining MAG.
- All Archetype progression*.
- All Gold Beetles that you've found.
- Your progress with Memorandum entries.
- Your progress with Royal Virtues.
- Items you've acquired.
*You'll still need to unlock Archetypes again, but once you've done so, your previous progress therein will be reflected.
What Is New
So long as you aren't playing on Storyteller difficulty, you will be able to challenge the mighty Redscale Dragon by interacting with the Book of the Apocalypse at Akademia.
On your initial playthrough, attempting to do so would prompt More to tell you not to. Now, with the restriction lifted, you can battle the level 99 optional super-boss at your leisure - although we strongly recommend waiting until your levels match.
