PostsIn this quest, you'll be exploring the Catacombs part of the Mausoleum, an area that was previously sealed off, to retrieve a noble’s lost family heirloom, though it’s hard to say which is more unbearable, the dungeon itself or the noble who sent you there.
How To Start A Haunted Heirloom
CloseThe "A Haunted Heirloom" quest becomes available once you turn in any bounty in Martira, even the Man's Not-So-Best Friend or The Old Castle Town Kidnapper. After turning in your bounty, the Recruiter Dispatcher will inform you about a noble with a retrieval request on Sunlumeo Street, Grand Trad.
Once you teleport there, you’ll find a Resentful Noble looking for someone to recover his Black Jewel Necklace from the Catacombs in the Mausoleum. This officially starts the quest, and of course, you'll be compensated for completing it, but keep in mind that you’ll need to complete it by the end of July, as the Mausoleum will be sealed off in August.
Quest Prep
With approximately 30 days to complete the quest, you'll have plenty of preparation time. Most importantly, you'll want to wait until 7/2 to gain Heismay as a follower and party member before diving into the Catacombs.
Most of the foes within can block or even repel physical attacks back at you unless you deal magic damage, and they can also inflict annoying ailments like Daze and Hex. For this reason, it's wise to use an effective party, like the one we've outlined below, to tackle the dungeon.

The Healer will be the backbone of this composition to keep everyone in top condition and deal Light damage along with the Kande skillinherited for Electric damage. The Brawler Archetype works great with Strohl, and it'll help you take on a certain type of enemy as well as allow you to use the hard-hitting Energy Ray Synthesis Skill.
On the other hand, Hulkenberg will stick to her tank role to sponge damage, while Heismay can be adjusted as a backup Healer to access the Mahama Synthesis Skill.
Strohl and Hulkenberg should also learn the Hama skill, as you simply can't go wrong with too much Light damage for the Catacombs, and you'll understand why later on.
Catacombs Enemies
Enemy
Details
Colossal Gelatinos
Weak to Electric and Fire damage but will block all forms of physical attacks. They can apply a party-wide Daze with Sluggish Breath and a defense debuff with Corrosive Acid.
Spekto
When low on health, they’ll use Last Resort to self-destruct, dealing damage to your entire party. They can also inflict Hex and summon an ally when it is the last one remaining.
The best way to deal with them is Electric damage, as they repel physical attacks.
Colossal Vampiric Gelatinos
Similar to Colossal Gelatinos but immune to Fire. Instead, they are weak to Ice. You’ll only encounter one of these near the end of the dungeon.
Malmorta
Skelly enemies that pop out of coffins and are cripplingly weak to Light and Strike damage. The Healer and Brawler archetypes, in this regard, are particularly effective against them.
How To Unlock The Dark Magla Door In The Catacombs
Before heading into the Mausoleum, make sure to pick up the Skullduggery quest from the Nervous Soldier. Since its deadline aligns with the noble’s request, you can complete both in one go.
You'll simply need to defeat eight Malmorta enemies to collect eight Mortaskulls for the Skullduggery quest.
Once inside, you’ll notice that the path to the Cathedral is blocked for repairs, but the previously locked gates in the hallway will have opened up. Don't bother with the right one, so head through the left gate, and you'll enter the Catacombs.
The path is pretty linear, but when you reach a circular area with three doors (two on the sides and one straight ahead), things can get a bit confusing.
The middle door leads to a Dark Magla Door where the boss, Kadablich, awaits. However, it’s locked until you find two halves of a key.
Each half is located behind one of the side doors in a chest, and the path to them is straightforward unless you want to take a few detours for extra loot, which are relatively easy to spot.
Once you have both halves, you can now unlock the Dark Magla Door and face Kadablich. Be sure to save your progress at Plateau before the big fight!
How To Beat Kadablich
Kadablich is a level 25 boss that engages you in battle with three Malmorta soldiers on its side. These skeletons are a sacrifice for Kadablich, expending themselves to heal it for flat 2,000 HP on their first turn if you damage the boss.
However, the Healer's Mahama Synthesis skill can wipe out all three Malmorta in one go, so take them down first.
Kadablich repels physical attacks, so don’t bother with those, and instead, your only means of dealing respectable damage is through skills that deal Light Damage - something that we've been harping on in the prep section.
The boss has some powerful skills. The ones you should watch out for are Curse Chant, which can possibly inflict a party-wide Hex debuff, and Mamudo, which deals Dark damage and is dangerous for your Healer Archetype.
Luckily, the fight can be over in under a minute, and you can even come out of it unscathed if you play it right. Start by casting Mahama to clear the skeletons, and on Strohl's turn, use Energy Ray on the boss to deal massive damage. After that, keep hittingKadablich with Hama from the rest of the party.
When your round is over, Kadablich will likely waste its turn casting Curse Chant, giving you the opportunity to land another Energy Ray and finish the fight without taking damage. With an Unscathed Triumph, you'll receive extra experience and currency.
A Haunted Heirloom Quest Rewards
CloseOnce you've defeated Kadablich, you'll receive the Weeping Blood Staff along with the Black Jewel Necklace. Following the singularpath from the boss's room, you'll loop back to the hallway through the gate you previously ignored.
Before leaving the Mausoleum, don't forget to turn in the Skullduggery quest to get a Brigandine and 3,000 Revee for your efforts. The next day, you'll also be able to return the Necklace you retrieved, and the Resentful Noble will reward you with a Sandglass Cuirass, some Courage points, and 4,000 Revee.
