The traps are the star of Meet Your Maker, and how you modify them determines how good they are at killing raiders. Whether you are going against traps when raiding outposts or making your own outpost, you’ll need to invest in traps and mods. With nine traps in the game and at least three or four mods each, there are a lot of options to choose from.

Some traps like the Boltshot and Impaler have the Second Wave mod that enables them after a raider grabs the GenMat. This makes them invaluable in defending your outpost when the looter is making their way out of it. It’s an important mod but is only useful in the second wave, before the trap is invisible. Ranking the Second Wave mod would be unfair to other mods, and they might complain (they won’t).
9 Impaler Unrelenting Mod
Impaler is a simple trap: someone stops on it or comes near it, and it shoots out spikes. That’s all it does, and it does it efficiently. The trap is cheap to build, so it’s bread and butter for most outposts. It’s also the most common trap you’ll encounter when raiding outposts yourself. The trap triggers once and goes dormant unless you have the Unrelenting mod installed.
The mod allows the trap to trigger endlessly until destroyed. This can throw off raiders who aren’t used to the trap triggering again. It’s also inexpensive to install and adds a bit of unpredictability to the trap.
8 Boltshot Hunter Mod
The Boltshot shoots arrows in a straight line. It has a pretty good range and gets hard to dodge if you get caught in a long corridor. It’s the second most used trap in the game and is unlocked from the get-go. Combine that with its cheap build cost, and you have a reliable trap that everyone loves using.
The Hunter Mod for Boltshot adds a homing effect to the arrows. The effect is not strong as the arrows won’t fly after the raiders, but it’s enough to add some unpredictable curvature to their trajectory.
7 Corrosive Cube Opaque Mod
The Corrosive Cube is more of a utility block than a straight-up trap. Sure, any raider that touches it dies, but it’s very easy to avoid. It also has a yellow glow that makes it easy to spot and avoid. The trap is translucent so you can easily see through it. If you place any trap behind it, a raider can shoot through the Corrosive Cube to take it down.

The Opaque mod for the Corrosive Cube makes the see-through pool of acid opaque. You can now place traps, guards, or another cube behind it and the raiders won’t know what’s waiting for them.
6 Holocube Picture Perfect Mod
The Holocube is a hologram that looks like a regular block but vanishes once a raider gets close to it. This allows the cube to hide other traps or guards behind it. The only downside is that the Holocube produces a glint-like effect which is easy to spot by keen-eyed raiders.
The Picture Perfect mod significantly reduces the shimmer/glint the Holocube produces. This makes it very hard to spot, adding to the camouflage abilities of the trap.
5 Death Piston Unstable Mod
Dead Piston moves a heavy piston outwards at incredible speed, destroying anything in its path. It’s a great way to stop raiders in their tracks and make them wait for the piston to collapse. The piston also doesn’t stop until it’s destroyed.
The Unstable Mod changes the stable nature of the piston to a chaotic one. Now there is no rhyme or rhythm to the piston’s movements. The unpredictability makes it a deadly trap, one raiders would rush to destroy.
4 Iron Claw Quick Launch Mod
Iron Claw is like a Claw Machine that catches raiders and brings them toward the launch point. The trap itself doesn’t do any damage but can be great when combined with other traps. The Quick Launch mod makes the claw move faster to grab the raiders.

The return speed is still the same though. The initial reaction time required to dodge the claw gets lowered with this simple mod. The trap makes you feel like Scorpion from Mortal Kombat — don’t forget to yell "Get over here" though.
3 Incinerator Dragon Breath Mod
The Incinerator is great for baking raiders to a crisp. It shoots a wall of flames forward, roasting anything unfortunate enough to be in its path. The trap is great for stopping raiders in their tracks and making them wait for the flames to die down as well.
Install the Dragon Breath mod to not only increase the detection range of the trap but also increase the range of the flames. It’s an essential mod to have if you plan on burning folks visiting your outpost.
2 Bomb Ejector Chaos Bombs Mod
Want to feel like Junkrat from Overwatch 2? Well, you can with the Bomb Ejector trap combined with the Chaos Bombs mod. The Bomb Ejector throws a couple of bombs down and lets them explode.
You can have a slope under the trap to make the bombs roll as well. Install the Chaos Bombs mod and the bombs will travel varying distances and bounce unevenly. This will make avoiding them very chaotic and hard for the raiders.
1 Plasma Sentinel Plasma Cloud Mod
The Plasma Sentinel is the best trap in the game. It shoots balls of plasma that seek out raiders. The ball also has an area of effect damage range which makes it very hard to dodge effectively. Now combine that with the Plasma Cloud mod and the super-heated ball will leave a deadly cloud of plasma behind.
This will effectively cut off the path for the raiders as they wait for the cloud to clear. Meanwhile, if the trap isn’t destroyed, there is another ball heading their way. If you love Plasma Guns from Fallout, this trap is made for you.
