Marvel Rivals Season 4 is finally here, bringing us a flashy new Vanguard in Angela, a bunch of new skins, and some absolutely terrifying balance changes that will hopefully shake up the meta a little bit. Unfortunately, not everything introduced in Season 4 is great though, as the start of the new season appears to have brought with it one of the game's weirdest bugs to date.

Earlier today, it seems as though Marvel Rivals had a massive global hiccup, as keybinds for seemingly every player were forcefully swapped around. This phenomenon was first reported by a Reddit user called PRGRyan, who shared their experience with the Marvel Rivals subreddit earlier today.

Marvel Rivals Season 4 Bug Is Randomly Swapping Player Keybinds

In their post, they included a picture of the in-game chat during one of their matches, in which they asked the whole lobby if their keybinds for L1 and R1 had been swapped without warning. A total of six different people in the lobby responded that they had, while even more people in PRGRyan's post describe running into the same issue in their games.

For example, a user called Sagittarianpocky explained that everyone in their game had to leave, as characters were borderline unplayable with their swapped keybinds, while another user called KidKudos98 admits they started "freaking out" during one of their matches, thanks to their keybinds shifting around completely randomly.

Other players on PC have reported that their ability buttons just stopped working completely, and that going into the menus and switching them all back had no impact. It's easily one of the most bizarre bugs that we've run into while playing Marvel Rivals, and we don't quite have an explanation for it just yet.

Some players have claimed that issues like this usually happen when you're playing a game and servers go down for maintenance. We didn't have any scheduled maintenance for when these issues arose, suggesting that the servers over at NetEase may have undergone an unexpected hiccup at some point during the day, possibly thanks to the increased rush of players.

If that is the case, that would mean this is an isolated incident and probably won't happen again, though some are reporting the problem persisting across multiple matches. Either way, it's not the greatest start to a new season that a game's ever had, but at least we all had a collective moment of pure confusion to bond over, instead of getting screamed at over voice chat once again.
