Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Update Ruins Dive Characters According To Fans

Summary
- Dive characters in Marvel Rivals are being nerfed, to the joy of everyone else.
- The Season 2.5 update has finally changed the game's meta.
- Start getting used to another class.
It's no understatement when I say that Marvel Rivals players hate dive characters. Despite Spider-Man being arguably the most popular comic book character, the community agrees with J. Jonah Jameson, he's a menace. In fact, even when I brought up this news in TheGamer's Slack, one of our editors popped up at 7 am to say he hopes dive players are all miserable.

The new Chrono Shield Cards won't solve Marvel Rivals' competitive mode problems.
PostsHowever, it seems the community's prayers are answered, as dive characters are going to see a major nerf in the upcoming Marvel Rivals season 2.5 update. While vanguards, duelists, and strategists rejoice, dive players are lamenting the loss of their domination over the game. A mix of new team-ups and nerfs has ruined it for them.
It's A Sad Time For Marvel Rivals Duelists
"Latest team ups and the nerfs of dive characters makes diving unfun and miserable," said a post on the Marvel Rivals subreddit by the aptly named Jeffthelandsharklover. "The new meta of [Marvel Rivals] is focused on anti-dive with Namor’s gamma piss squids and the upcoming peni-rocket team up which makes the whole point a minefield. Also wtf was the “jeff rework” and cap nerfs."
"As a Venom main I felt we were in heaven during beta, and its just been getting harder and harder, and they haven't even needed to nerf us," said one of the comments. "The power creep just hitting hard from balance updates alone....and then we got the powerscale of new characters being added to look forward to."
CloseWhile most are rejoicing at the fact that dive characters are nerfed, there are those who understand that this is how a live service game works in terms of balancing for new content. "I think the devs previously stated that there’s a shifting meta," pointed out one player. "And it’s inevitable when you’re adding more heroes that fill any role without making the same kit, so counters and weaknesses will stand out a little more, which leads to tuning."
Of course, this doesn't make anything better for the dive players who see their reign come to an end. That's why you always try to master multiple classes.
