Posts 1There are so many legendary assassins to choose from that it might be hard to pick the best of the best in Universes Beyond: Assassin's Creed. Never fear, for we're hear to give you the top ten commanders in Magic's Ubisoft crossover.
10 Achilles Davenport
The unkillable assassin.
Blue/black is historically the color combination of Magic's Assassins, so it makes sense to start this list off with the set with Achilles Davenport. He makes all your other Assassins bigger, has evasion in the form of menace, and best of all, he can keep coming back cheaply thanks to his freerunning cost.
For just one blue and one black mana, Achilles leaps into play provided you've dealt combat damage with another Assassin. Since there are plenty of unblockable Assassins in these colors, you can expect Achilles to always have an avenue back into play no matter how many times he dies.
9 Altair Ibn-La'Ahad
The first of many.
There aren't too many white or red Assassins, and most of them are in Universe's Beyond: Assassin's Creed. But if you manage to gather them up alongside a few key black Assassins, Altair could be an extremely potent commander.
Once you've got Assassins in the graveyard, Altair brings their memories back tapped and attacking. You could easily devise a deck that resurrects a spectral army of Assassins to overwhelm your opponents, and in a color combination with access to plenty of combat tricks, too.
8 Shaun & Rebecca, Agents
Never leave home without your Animus.
So long as it hasn't somehow been exiled from the game, Shaun & Rebecca will always find The Animus to bring into play every time they enter the battlefield. With the Animus, you can exile a legendary creature from any graveyard, and turn any of your legendary creatures into a copy of it.

PostsThere are plenty of legendary creatures out there more powerful than Shaun & Rebecca that they would gladly turn into. In the meantime, they can keep milling cards until you find one, or you could try milling your opponents with something like Psychic Corrosion to see if you can find a legendary among them.
7 Sokrates, Athenian Teacher
Hey man, chill! Let's talk things out.
Blue and white have always been the color combination of taking things slow, keeping a cool head, and saying 'no' to violence. Sokrates embodies this strategy, preventing combat damage and instead offering up a nice conversation.
Sokrates already shuts down any land-based assault that's under three power, but as soon as there's an attack he can't handle, he can tap to prevent all combat damage. Instead, both you and the attacking creature's player draw cards equal to half the damage prevented. Not only do you get cards, but it's a hilarious way to shut down aggressive strategies.
6 Eivor, Wolf-Kissed
A noble and violent incarnation.
The exact opposite of Sokrates is Eivor, Wolf-Kissed, perhaps the most violent Assassin Ubisoft has ever created. Despite her intense demeanor, Eivor offers both wild aggression and a bit of strategy.
Besides being a 7/6 trample haste for a mere six mana, Eivor mills your deck for as much damage as you inflict on your opponent and lets you play either a Saga or a land from the milled cards. There are plenty of powerful Sagas in red, white, and green to choose from, meaning Eivor will always have value.
Be sure to throw in Sigurd, Jarl of Ravensthorpe, another card from Assassin's Creed that'll help get even more value out of those Sagas.
5 Ratonhnhaké꞉ton
Before there was red white and blue, there was black.
Ratonhnhaké꞉ton offers an extremely interesting concept. He gets at least one free attack, and whenever he deals combat damage to a player, you get to create a 1/1 black Assassin with menace and return an Equipment card from your graveyard attached to that token. It's equipment recursion with a twist.
And there are plenty of ways for blue and black to find Equipment to toss into your graveyard. Surveil would be a good keyword to use, making Candlestick an ideal Equipment. Lively Dirge and Entomb are must-adds, and both Goblin Engineer and Disciples of Gix would find a great home here too.
4 Shay Cormac
Regenerators are safe, at least.
Despite being a two-mana uncommon, Shay Cormac offers a ton of utlity. First, he can get rid of some of the most problematic keywords in Magic for just one mana. Second, his bounty counter system makes him an escalating threat. All you need to do is keep targeting creatures your opponents control.

PostsAnd there are plenty of ways to do that. Bounty Hunter, Royal Assassin, and Tetzimoc all come to mind, but there are many more, and each time a bounty dies, Cormac grows evermore powerful.
3 Senu, Keen-Eyed Protector
Blink and you’ll miss it.
Senu was incredibly useful in Assassin's Creed Origins, and this hawk is no less so in Magic. An aggressive white deck full of powerful legendary creatures like Daxos, Blessed by the Sun, Skrelv, Defector Mite, and Kytheon, Hero of Akros would be excellent to pair with Senu.
Notably, Senu doesn't care how it gets exiled, and with the vigilance keyword, you'll almost always be able to tap Senu to exile itself for a bit of life gain and to scry your library. Throw in a few sources of card draw, and Senu can be a great way to give your mono-white deck a ton of stability.
2 Kassandra, Eagle Bearer
Now this is Sparta.
Like Shaun & Rebecca, playing Kassandra always means bringing The Spear of Leonidas into play, so she's a two-for-one for three mana. She's also got haste, so if you've got two more mana to equip her, she can swing with that spear as soon as she enters play. Not only does this mean you get to draw a card, but you could also gain double strike, create a 3/2 horse, or cycle some cards from your hand.
But that's just the Spear of Leonidas. There is plenty of other legendary Equipment in Magic that Kassandra would love to play with while offering something red and white have traditionally struggled with: drawing cards while being hyper-aggressive.
1 The Capitoline Triad
The new not-Eldrazi god.
Yes, The Capitoline Triad means you're playing a colorless commander deck, but there are plenty of legendary Eldrazi to play with, and even more artifacts. All you need to do is fill your graveyard with some high-cost historic cards and The Capitoline Triad becomes a cheap 7/7.
But even better, manage to get a total mana value of 30 in your graveyard, and suddenly all your Thopters (or whatever other creatures you have in play) are 9/9s. There aren't too many decks that survive an army of 9/9s bearing down on them. Now to get brainstorming on how to self-mill without any colored mana.
