Summary

  • Persona 5: The Phantom X will get an international release.
  • Right now, Persona 5: The Phantom X is only available in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and South Korea.
  • It's also said to be getting a console release, although this will come after its international launch.

Persona 5: The Phantom X, a Gacha game that saw a limited open beta release earlier this year, is getting a worldwide release. It will also be coming to console, although this is said to be rolling out after the international launch of the game.

As noted by Persona Central, and initially reported on the Chinese website Bilibili, this news was shared at an offline event this month. At the event, Atlus, Sega, and The Phantom X publisher Perfect World are said to have confirmed the international release, having previously had this under consideration.

Persona 5: The Phantom X Will Launch In More Countries

According to Persona Central, the Q&A with publishers confirmed that "work on the console versions of P5X will get underway after the international release." It doesn't seem that anything more specific than this was shared with attendees, so it's unclear what consoles the game is targeting, or what other countries it will launch in.

Right now, Persona 5: The Phantom X is available in an open beta, but only in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and South Korea. It remains to be seen just how wide-reaching this international launch is, or whether this just means that it will drop in a couple of more countries at some point.

Back in May of this year, Sega confirmed that a wider release of Persona 5: The Phantom X was under consideration. This was only a month after the game got its open beta in select regions, so it looks like the companies behind the free-to-play title are confident that the demand is there. Now, just two months later, it seems that this international release is guaranteed, even if we don't know when to expect it.

Given the wording, it will be available in other countries on mobile first, just as it is in its current regions. Then, it seems like the console port will come later, perhaps for its full release when the open beta is over. It doesn't seem that any party has commented on the subject further since the event, so we'll have to wait a bit longer for any updates on these ports and localisations.
