Helldivers 2
Platform(s) Powered by Expand CollapseThis co-op is a third-person shooter and a sequel to Helldivers, which was a cult hit. These games are sci-fi dystopian, which isn’t uncommon in the multiplayer world, but this is a new one to add to the bunch.
People really love this universe, and there isn’t that element of competition toward other players. This leaves very little room for toxic or negative experiences. They also know how to band together as a group in order to keep the game playable, as best demonstrated when PlayStation wanted the PC players to have a PlayStation account. The community coming together is what allowed this game to remain in people’s good graces and accessible.

Minecraft is all about which server you join since each of the servers provides a unique experience tailored to the gameplay you are looking for. Sky: Children of the Light is an adventure game without combat elements. It’s more so an exploration of memory and interaction. Many believe the story is a metaphor for life and death.
The game itself really lends itself to the kind of community it fosters, which is full of fleeting moments of unforgettable kindness. 3 Fallout 76
Fallout 76
Released November 14, 2018 Developer(s) Bethesda Franchise Fallout Platform(s) PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One Powered by Expand CollapseWelcome to the wasteland in this RPG. Fallout 76 is yet another game that is part of a widely popular series, a game developed solely for online communities. While the other Fallout games have their own communities as well, they don't have this option built into the game itself like Fallout 76.
This is a multiplayer game that had a slow buildup of features developed by the community. The initial launch may have turned some people away, but those who stayed were people who really loved Fallout, instead of people who just like online games. Many also speculate the audience for this game is a bit on the older side, lending itself to less aggressive interactions.

This lets you and your group focus on exploration, sharing cool stuff, and showing off the things you’ve made. It's amazing to see how a community blossoms when it is all about the game, not just about completing tasks.

Developer(s)
Ghost Ship Games
This co-op first-person shooter is set up like a lot of other shooter multiplayer games; this one just happens to have a sci-fi setting and a cool style to help differentiate it. There are a few games on the market like this, but the story elements really make it different from other games of a similar caliber.
The Deep Rock Galactic community is so welcoming that other people start to play the game just to be a part of it. The lack of militaristic elements made the people who gravitate towards this kind of game move on from it, leaving behind people who are just really into memes and doing the job.
