Scott Pilgrim + 'River City Ransom-esque' = SOLD

Here’s the thing, I’ve never read the Scott Pilgrim comic (not sold on the Americanime art style), and I’m not entirely sure the movie is going to be that good. I like the Scott Pilgrim concept (Nerd loves girl, nerd fights girl’s ex-boyfriends using videogame-logic), but I’m not totally convinced it will work in a movie.
The one place I am sure it will work is in a videogame, especially since it’s a game by Paul Robertson.
Game Informer just got some hands-on experience with this timed PSN exclusive, and they sound pretty excited. I’m excited too, now that I’ve read the word(s) “River City Ransom-esque” in the their description of the game. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is a side scrolling beat ’em up, featuring at least 4 different playable characters, ninja magic, shops for shopping, and a boss (and bass) fight against an enraged bass-playing vegan ex-boyfriend. This is what videogames do best, folks.
The only way it could get better is if Travis Touchdown makes a cameo.
