Reach zen by throwing a ball at a hoop for an unreasonable amount of time.

Drag. Release. Repeat.

Hoop Loop is a basketball game about keeping a streak alive. Pull back anywhere on the screen, let go, and hope you did the same tiny thumb movement correctly again.

Make the shot and your streak goes up.

Miss once and it goes back to one.

That is basically the game.

Still probably better for you than doomscrolling.

THE STREAK IS THE GAME

Make shots quickly and the fire bar fills. While it is burning, your shots are worth more.

Bank shots, wall shots and clean shots pay extra.

Every tenth shot the hoop starts moving because apparently standing still was too easy.

The longer your streak gets, the more annoying it is to miss.

ZEN STARTS AT FIFTY

There is a zen ball, a zen hoop and a zen court.

You cannot buy them.

You cannot skip ahead.

You unlock them by making a lot of shots in a row.

The first starts at fifty.

So if you want enlightenment, unfortunately you will have to earn it with your thumb.

FIVE WAYS TO PLAY

Standard is normal Hoop Loop.

Hardcore removes the backboard.

Both also have ranked versions if you would like the repetitive thumb movement to become competitive.

Practice lets you throw the ball at the hoop with no consequences at all.

Sometimes that is enough.

A LEAGUE EVERY WEEK

Thirty players.

Seven days.

One leaderboard.

Finish near the top and you move up a tier. Finish at the bottom and you move down.

Win the league and next week is free.

Your best run each day counts, so you only need to be good once.

FRIENDS, NOT FOLLOWERS

There are no accounts, emails or passwords.

The game gives you a six character code.

Give it to a friend and you appear on each other's leaderboard.

If they are new to the game, you both get rewarded.

That is the entire social network.

THINGS TO WEAR

There are different balls, hoops and courts.

Some are earned by playing.

Some can be bought with coins you earn by playing.

Some require a certain streak.

A few come from friends.

None of them improve your ability to move your thumb.

HONEST ABOUT THE REST

There are ads.

Rewarded ads are optional.

Gems can be bought, but they can also be earned by playing.

Nothing you buy makes the shot for you.

Your save is stored on your phone.

Delete the app and the save goes with it unless you make a recovery code first.

It takes one tap in Settings.

Probably do that before reaching zen.
