Zenless Zone Zero: Comprehensive Guide to Ellen Team Composition

Ellen is a formidable Attack character in Zenless Zone Zero, known for her ability to inflict Ice DMG. However, players may find it challenging to assemble an effective team with her due to her specific pairing requirements. To maximize the potential of her Additional Ability, Rising Storm, it is essential to team her with another Ice element character or a member of the Victoria Housekeeping faction.

Once players dedicate resources to building Ellen’s roster, the returns are impressive. She quickly establishes herself as a top-tier character in Zenless Zone Zero, displaying her true potential and capabilities.

1 Ellen + Lighter + Lycaon

Although including two Stun units in the same team might seem suboptimal, the combination of Lighter and Lycaon alongside Ellen offers a strategic advantage. Lighter extends the Stun duration of enemies while simultaneously providing an essential Ice DMG buff and debuff. In contrast, Lycaon effectively diminishes enemies’ Ice resistance and amplifies Ellen’s DMG against Stunned targets—a synergy comparable to the best Support characters in the game.

For optimal performance, Lighter will initiate the chain of Stuns necessary to empower Ellen. Players must first use Lycaon’s EX Special Attack to activate his Core Passive, enhancing the team’s damage output. Once the enemies are Stunned by Lighter, the team can switch back to Lycaon to utilize his Additional Ability. Finally, Ellen delivers her powerful Chain Attack, ready to dismantle her foes.

2 Ellen + Lighter + Soukaku

While Lycaon is an excellent Stun character, Lighter stands out as one of the best for enhancing Ellen’s capabilities. Lighter’s ability to maintain extended Stun times creates perfect windows for Ellen to unleash significant damage.

Adding Soukaku to the mix enhances Ellen’s effectiveness further. She provides a boost to Ellen’s ATK and Ice DMG with her Core Passive and Additional Ability. Soukaku’s fourth Mindscape Cinema also diminishes the enemies’ Ice resistance, thereby amplifying Ellen’s output as the primary damage dealer.

3 Ellen + Lycaon + Soukaku

The classic mono-ice team featuring Ellen, Lycaon, and Soukaku is one of the most effective combinations available in Zenless Zone Zero. Although it may not rival top Agents like Miyabi, this trio allows Ellen to deliver impressive damage empowered by her teammates.

Lycaon initiates Stun attacks, which bolster Ellen’s Stun DMG Multiplier while reducing enemies’ Ice resistance. After switching to Soukaku, she applies her ATK buff and further boosts Ellen’s Ice DMG. This sequence leads to Ellen seizing ample opportunities to demonstrate why she ranks among the elite 5-star characters in the game.

Utilizing Soukaku effectively requires tapping her EX Special Attack to build stacks, with a held attack activating the Quick Assist to maximize buffs. When fully stacked, Soukaku’s ATK buffs are significantly enhanced.
