What Konami Game Deserves to be Remastered or Remade Next?

With the recent launch of the Suikoden I & II HD Remaster collection, enthusiasm is building among fans for the future of Konami’s game lineup. The company boasts an extensive catalogue filled with iconic titles, yet many are currently overlooked and could benefit from a remake or remaster. The team at Siliconera has gathered to share their thoughts on which titles deserve another chance in the gaming spotlight.

Future Remakes and Remasters: What Siliconera Contributors Want

As a fan, I’m thrilled to witness the remakes of Suikoden I and II. In the absence of these remastered editions, collectors were left with no choice but to either emulate or spend exorbitant amounts on dubious eBay listings. Should the remasters perform well, I would love to see updates for Suikoden III or perhaps even Suikoden Tactics, alongside the possibility of introducing new content to the series.— Elliot

I’m particularly hopeful that the resurgence of Suikoden I & II will open doors for a long-overdue remake of Suikoden V. This title often flies under the radar but is, in my opinion, the best entry in the franchise and deserving of much greater recognition. If I could request additional remasters, Yu-Gi-Oh! True Duel Monsters: Sealed Memories would be at the top of my list. This early game emerged at a time when the card game rules were still being established, leading to unexpectedly wild narratives. Although it’s unlikely to receive a remaster—especially since it wasn’t included in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection—its place in the franchise’s evolution is significant, akin to the meme about dramatic crossroads. And let’s face it, the lore surrounding Yu-Gi-Oh is quite peculiar! — Yasmine

There’s a desperate need for Dance Dance Revolution to make a comeback in Western markets. The game would be perfectly suited for the Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons—think along the lines of Just Dance—featuring a music selection that resonates more with my tastes. It could also serve as a fun way to get in shape! In addition to DDR, I’d love to see a Yu-Gi-Oh Early Days Collection 2 that heavily features the DS titles. The World Championship series from 2009 to 2011 still holds a special place in my heart due to its excellent single-player storylines focused on my favorite series, 5D’s.— Cody

Currently, the Suikoden I & II HD Remaster is available on multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
