Helldivers 2 has seen a burgeoning modding community that has been active since the game’s release. While the game lacks official support for mods, many have been created, though they may not be widely recognized. It’s essential to tread carefully, as utilizing mods that can alter gameplay—like those that provide infinite grenades or health—might result in triggering the game’s kernel-level anti-cheat system, leading to account bans. It’s not all negative, however.

The majority of available mods are cosmetic in nature, allowing players to embody characters from diverse franchises or customize their weapons and armor. Currently, Helldivers 2 accommodates only client-side mods, meaning any visual changes will only be visible to the mod user or to those who have applied the same mod.

While cosmetic mods pose a minimal risk for triggering anti-cheat measures, they are not entirely free from potential complications. No instances of bans related to modding have been reported yet, but it’s wise to remain cautious, as future updates to the anti-cheat system might change this status. You’ve been warned!

Updated February 15, 2025, by Saqib Mansoor: Following the devastation of Meridian, Angel’s Venture is now also threatened by a mysterious black hole. In response, Super Earth has mobilized its forces, resulting in a noticeable increase in Helldivers 2’s player population. As veterans return to combat, new mods have surfaced, enriching players’ customization options in their quest to defend Super Earth.

No More Capes

Let Your Weapons Display Your Allegiance

  • Mod Link

Curious about your armor’s appearance from behind? The No More Capes mod serves a straightforward purpose: it removes all capes in Helldivers 2. Whether for fashion or to prevent visual glitches that turn your cape into an unappealing cardboard-like object, this mod provides a fresh third-person experience that can give a feeling of enhanced mobility. However, be mindful that capes are a rare cosmetic feature that can be enhanced with each premium Warbond release—so this mod might not appeal to everyone.

It’s worth noting that hiding your cape does not significantly enhance your FPS.

Toggle HUD and Visor Effects

Get the Ultimate Cinematic Experience

  • Mod Link

For an action-packed shooter like Helldivers 2, concealing the HUD can significantly enhance immersion by decluttering the screen and allowing players to focus on the hordes of enemies surrounding them. Additionally, this mod is perfect for taking stunning screenshots that showcase the game’s rich environments.

The Toggle HUD and Visor Effects mod allows developers to easily hide or reveal the HUD with the press of a button at any time during gameplay. This functionality extends to disabling ammo counts, grenade counters, and mission-related information, including timers and status indicators. It even affects cutscenes and loading screens by removing player icons and planet names.

While the game’s settings provide options to hide certain elements, such as the compass and mission information, there isn’t an existing function to hide everything in one go. Players should also be cautious when hiding interaction prompts, as this may disable essential game mechanics.

First-Person Perspective

Remember to Watch Your Flank

  • Mod Link

While using the scope is the closest players can get to a first-person viewpoint in Helldivers 2, it doesn’t quite replicate the experience found in traditional first-person shooters. By installing the First-Person Perspective mod, players can look directly through the helmet, enhancing immersion and engagement.

This visor perspective is inspired by the beloved Halo 3: ODST game, appealing particularly to fans of the Master Chief saga.

Ultimate Performance

Break the Game

  • Mod Link

The Ultimate Performance mod is designed to enhance frame rates in Helldivers 2 by adjusting the default configuration settings to disable various visual effects. While players can choose to play on the lowest graphic settings, some visual elements cannot be disabled through in-game settings alone. This mod simplifies the process, allowing users to achieve a significant FPS boost without editing configurations manually.

Additionally, the mod removes fog from the game’s planets, facilitating improved visibility. While no bans have been reported for its use, it’s advisable to proceed with caution, as some might consider this mod an unfair advantage.

Stream Deck Profile for All Stratagems

Call in Airstrikes With a Single Tap

  • Mod Link

If you live-stream Helldivers 2 and use devices like the Elgato Stream Deck+ to enhance viewer experience, this mod is a game changer. The Stream Deck Profile mod installs icons representing every stratagem in Helldivers 2, enabling easy access during missions.

No more tedious typing of stratagem codes; simply tap the designated key on your Stream Deck to call in your desired stratagem.

Halo: Master Chief Mark V Armor

Boost Your Swag With the Iconic Mjolnir Suit

  • Mod Link

For fans of Master Chief, there’s now a mod that lets players don the iconic Mark V assault armor. When paired with the Halo 3: ODST visor mod, it elevates the experience, adding a unique flair to the combat against Automatons and Terminids.

To utilize the mod, equip it on a male character model after unlocking the armor through the default Mobilize Warbond settings.

Warhammer 40, 000: Space Marine Armor

Lead Your Team to the Slaughter

  • Mod Link

If you missed out on acquiring the Death Korps of Krieg Armor, consider the Space Marine mod. This mod introduces three variations of armor and helmet from the Warhammer 40, 000 universe, along with the Supply Pack, Jet Pack, and Shield Generator stratagems for a comprehensive gear overhaul.

If the mod encounters issues, remember to switch your character body type to “Brawny”for optimal compatibility.

Hellmarine

In the Service of Super Earth

  • Mod Link

Inspired by the Warhammer 40, 000 universe, the Hellmarine mod allows players to assume the role of a formidable juggernaut. Equipped with the right armor set, your character will instill fear among adversaries, showcasing a powerful and visually striking design. This mod effectively replaces the Medic armor set to provide additional Stims to enhance gameplay survivability.

The Complete Star Wars Package

In a Galaxy Far, Far Away

  • Mod Link (Star Wars Enemies)
  • Mod Link (Your Djarin)
  • Mod Link (Star Wars Ships)

Multiple mods exist that fuse the universe of Helldivers 2 with the much-loved Star Wars franchise. First, the Star Wars Enemies mod replaces every Automaton enemy with an equivalent from the Star Wars universe. For example, B1 Battle Droids take the place of common enemies, while devastating foes like Droidekas and AT-RTs are introduced into gameplay.

Next is the Din Djarin mod, which allows players to substitute the FS-05 Marksman armor and helmet with the Mandalorian’s iconic attire. Finally, the Star Wars Ships mod substitutes Super Destroyers and Pelican-1 with a Republic Gunship. Look to install all three for a transformative experience that resembles a new Star Wars cooperative shooter.

Dead Space Remake Suit

Now Calling for the Plasma Cutter

  • Mod Link

The distinctive engineering suits from Dead Space, utilized by Isaac Clarke to combat necromorphs, can now be equipped in Helldivers 2. With sharp textures and intricate detailing, the Dead Space Remake Suit mod features two variations: the standard pristine version and a damaged, burned variant. This mod replaces the B-01 Tactical armor and can only be worn on a muscular character model, offering a high-quality addition to the game.

Helldivas

The Maidens of Democracy

  • Mod Link

Though Helldivers 2 includes a female body type, some players may find it less appealing or not as stylish. The Helldivas mod modifies the aesthetic for those who believe that style can be a winning factor in the ongoing Great Galactic War.

Doom Descent Music

Wait for the Heavy Metal Drop

  • Mod Link

The Doom Descent Music mod replaces the standard loading theme with “Only Thing They Fear Is You, ”an electrifying soundtrack from Doom Eternal. Noted for energizing gameplay, Mick Gordon’s work effectively escalates tension and excitement as players descend onto a planet teeming with Terminids or Automatons.

Better Aim Reticles

Redesigned for Precision

  • Mod Link

The standard crosshair in Helldivers 2 can often blend into the game’s backgrounds, making it challenging for players to track targets and control recoil. The Better Aim Reticles (BAR) mod rectifies this by replacing the default crosshair with a variety of custom-designed reticles. Players can choose from over a dozen reticle options, allowing for personal customization until they find one that best suits their aim.

Better Map Markers

Redesigned for Clarity

  • Mod Link

Created by the same developer as the BAR mod, the Better Map Markers mod enhances navigation accuracy by improving Helldivers 2’s map and compass markers. The default markers often obscure vital terrain details, complicating navigation across the landscape. This mod introduces clearly defined custom markers that enable precise navigation.

Maxwell Portable Hellbomb

Please Watch My Cat for 10 Seconds

  • Mod Link

Among the humorous additions to Helldivers 2 is the Maxwell Portable Hellbomb mod, which replaces the ominous B-100 Portable Hellbomb with an adorable cat named Maxwell. Players are encouraged to care for him—until he inevitably detonates in a nuclear blast after 10 seconds! A whimsical twist to the gameplay, this mod brings levity to chaotic battles.

Heavy Units Remastered

Hear Them Coming From a Mile

  • Mod Link

The Heavy Units Remastered mod amplifies audio cues related to the game’s most formidable enemy units. Often eclipsed by the chaos of battle, the sounds generated by powerful adversaries can be easily missed. This mod revitalizes the audio of Automaton Tanks, Hulks, and Factory Striders, ensuring that their arrival is heard clearly, thus enhancing awareness during confrontations. Furthermore, optional “Loud”audio files are available for those seeking an intense auditory experience.

Railgun Max Charge Warning Sound

Never Overcharge Again

  • Mod Link

The Railgun in Helldivers 2 is a powerful weapon that can lead to self-destruction if overcharged. While players should keep an eye on the charge meter, the Railgun Max Charge Warning Sound mod adds auditory warning signals immediately prior to an overload. By incorporating a loud beeping sound, this mod provides clear alerts to allow players to maximize their firing potential without disastrous consequences.
