The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is generating a lot of enthusiasm, especially with the expectation of a fresh Animal Crossing installment. While Animal Crossing: New Horizons enjoyed massive popularity, particularly among dedicated players who logged thousands of hours, the community is increasingly eager for a new addition to the franchise. Enthusiasts have begun sharing their ideas for features in this next title, such as enhanced social simulation aspects and the return of beloved villagers.

While many fans hope for an Animal Crossing game as a flagship launch title for the Switch 2, it’s clear that the series needs to evolve. In particular, there are several villagers that should be completely eliminated from future iterations of the game. Their presence can detract from the overall enjoyment and atmosphere of a village. Even though some may have their devoted followers, Nintendo should consider removing these characters for a more enjoyable community experience.

Villagers to Avoid in Animal Crossing

1. Al Ruins The Good Gorilla’s Name

Al has consistently been one of the less favored villagers since Animal Crossing: City Folk. Despite his jock-like attitude, Al’s lazy personality surprisingly wins over some fans. However, his unsettling appearance detracts from his otherwise appealing persona, primarily due to his shifty, beady eyes. Though not the worst offender in the game, Al’s design is enough of a concern to suggest that a redesign is warranted, particularly after fans have imagined a more favorable portrayal of him.

2. Phoebe Ruins Everyone’s Island

Phoebe’s big sister demeanor can endear her to some players, yet her volcanic-themed home is a monumental eyesore. Players often hope to avoid her due to the overwhelming visual assault her house presents, overshadowing any potential charm she holds. Despite not being the outright worst villager, her aesthetic flaws and quirky design lead many to yearn for her departure in future titles.

3. Diva’s Design Can Be Offputting

Diva enjoys a considerable fan base thanks to her engaging personality, but her unusual design is problematic. Like many frogs in the game, her appearance raises eyebrows. Although some will miss her eccentric presence, a gradual phasing out of poorly designed characters may be best for the next Animal Crossing title, paving the way for a fresh cast of villagers.

4. Pietro’s Clown Look Is Too Much

Pietro is a polarizing clown villager whose off-putting design and odd color choices leave a lot to be desired. His persistent smile juxtaposed with his creepy aesthetic makes him an unlikely candidate for the village roster. While some players relish his rarity, removing Pietro entirely could benefit the aesthetic integrity of future Animal Crossing games, as he simply doesn’t harmonize with the overall theme.

5. Coco Haunts Players’ Nightmares

Coco’s design draws from traditional Haniwa figures, lending her a macabre quality that doesn’t suit the wholesome nature of Animal Crossing. Her vacant stare and eerie presence can easily unsettle players, making her a less-than-ideal villager. Despite her potential backstory, Coco’s unsettling design raises concerns about including her in future games, preserving a more lighthearted tone.

6. Limberg Is A Smelly Rat

Limberg embodies a cranky rat persona that clashes with the joyous spirit of Animal Crossing. Furthermore, his association with unpleasant odors only adds to his undesirable traits. His personality and design fail to resonate positively with players looking for charming companions. Removing Limberg could create a more appealing environment for villagers.

7. Chops Is A Little Creepy

Chops, while not the most visually offensive villager, is ironically a source of discomfort due to his overly flirtatious nature. In a game that welcomes players of all ages, his smug demeanor and unwanted advances feel entirely out of place. To maintain a welcoming village atmosphere, it may be best to exclude characters like Chops in future editions.

8. Hippeux Is Too Pompous

A unique blend of smugness and an unappealing design makes Hippeux another villager that many players would prefer to see gone. His air of superiority and condescending attitude can detract from the village’s charm, conflicting with the welcoming environment Animal Crossing aims to foster. These traits make him a prime candidate for removal in upcoming versions of the game.

9. Barold Doesn’t Belong In Animal Crossing

Barold, characterized by his humorous yet jarring design, doesn’t quite fit within the Animal Crossing community. His moody expression and unsettling home life add to the day’s gloom and make him a creature of discomfort among players. His sinister vibe makes it clear that his removal from the series could elevate the game’s more cheerful atmosphere.

10. Everyone Hates Rodney

Rodney has become emblematic of everything wrong with certain villager designs, earning him a devoted subreddit for fans to express their disdain. His spoiled-child look, paired with a smug demeanor, creates a frustrating combination for anyone interacting with him. To revitalize the game, it is imperative that Rodney be eliminated from future titles as he consistently detracts from gameplay.

In conclusion, while the Animal Crossing franchise continues to thrive, there is a crucial need for refreshing the cast of villagers. By considering fan opinions concerning character designs and personalities, Nintendo can ensure a more enjoyable experience for players. Removing or reworking those characters that do not resonate positively will help maintain the charm and allure that the series has established over the years.
