This Monster Hunter Wilds Glitch Provides Sweet Revenge for Players Stuck at 30 FPS

Technical Glitch in Monster Hunter Wilds Boosts Damage at Lower Framerates
Players of Monster Hunter Wilds have encountered notable technical issues that significantly affect gameplay performance. Interestingly, if you find yourself unable to achieve higher framerates, you may actually benefit from an unintended glitch that enhances damage output from multi-hit attacks at lower framerates.
A recent video from Anta reveals how multi-hit moves in this latest installment of the franchise can deal increased damage when the game operates at 30 FPS, which is the minimum framerate cap on the PC platform. This phenomenon is linked to the game logic being tied to the framerate—a recurring issue within the Monster Hunter series. In fact, similar quirks were observed in Monster Hunter Rise, where performance above 30 FPS inadvertently made encounters more challenging, suggesting that 30 FPS aligns closer to the developers’ intentions for optimal gameplay.
After viewing the YouTube segment, I personally investigated the situation in Monster Hunter Wilds, conducting a brief trial using a Great Sword against a Training Area dummy. This simple test confirmed the bug as described by Anta, providing clear evidence of the discrepancy in damage output. In a side-by-side comparison, the game recorded a total damage value while capped at 30 FPS, juxtaposed with significantly lower damage at a 120 FPS setting. Although there are suggested methods to mitigate this issue—highlighted in the video—these solutions are less than ideal. Players are hopeful for a timely fix in an upcoming patch.
