In an eagerly awaited announcement today, Bethesda has revealed The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, following a wave of speculation and leaks. Todd Howard, a key figure at Bethesda, shared insights on the original game’s significance since its release in 2006, before introducing a team of developers who highlighted the extensive enhancements made in this new version.
This remastered edition showcases a striking visual upgrade powered by Unreal Engine 5, while the foundational logic continues to operate on the original Gamebryo engine. Fans can look forward to a comprehensive list of improvements, which include:
- Redesigned HUD, menus, and maps
- Upgraded user interface for systems like Persuasion and Clairvoyance
- Revised mechanics including leveling, encumbrance, and non-combat perks
- Better enemy scaling for a more challenging experience
- Enhanced accessibility options
- Additional autosaving features
- Updated first-person and third-person camera controls
- Refined combat feedback and improved controller support
Adding to the excitement, it was confirmed that Oblivion Remastered is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X, with the game also offered on Game Pass—consistent with Bethesda’s trend. For those who prefer to purchase, the standard edition is priced at $49.99, while the Deluxe Edition retails for $59.99, featuring exclusive content such as quests linked to the unique Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon armor, additional weapon sets, and horse armor.
