We have recently been informed of the official release date for Still Wakes The Deep, a single-player horror game set on a fictional oil rig. Developer The Chinese Room has announced that the game will finally be released on June 18, after being first revealed during Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase in June 2023. It will be available on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S consoles. For those subscribed to Xbox Game Pass, the game will also be available on its release day.

Clearly drawing inspiration from 1982’s The Thing and the Alien film franchise, Still Wakes the Deep is a game that utilizes the power of Unreal Engine 5. The story takes place on a massive oil rig in the North Sea off the coast of Scotland during the holiday season of 1975. The protagonist is present on the rig when an ominous and lethal incident occurs. The developers at The Chinese Room have also incorporated their own unique additions to the game.

Cut off from all communications, with no weapons, you must use your wits in this claustrophobic struggle for survival. Search for your crew and help them survive if you can. Run, climb, and swim through the flooding corridors and storm-lashed outer decks. And pray that, one day, you get to see your family again.

The developer has also unveiled a new trailer for Still Wakes The Deep. However, it appears to contain spoilers, so if you prefer going into the game with minimal information, it may be best to avoid watching it.

The Chinese Room is currently developing a highly anticipated game set to be released later this year. In September 2023, Paradox Interactive announced that the team would be taking over the development of the highly anticipated RPG, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. As of now, the game is scheduled for release in the fall of 2024, unless there are any additional delays.
