Steam achieves record high with over 38 million concurrent online users

Valve’s Steam gaming platform has seen a remarkable influx of new players recently, leading to a significant increase in the number of concurrent online gamers. Last Sunday, Steam achieved a record of 37,789,483 simultaneous players, and today that record has been surpassed, reaching new heights.
According to Steam’s stats page, the platform hit an unprecedented milestone earlier today, with the number of concurrent players exceeding 38 million for the first time. The latest record now stands at 38,365,632 online players, representing an impressive boost of 576,149 players from the previous week’s record.
A glance at Valve’s Most Played page indicates that no new game launches this week have driven the surge in concurrent players. However, several recently released titles maintain high online engagement, including Black Myth: Wukong, Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2, Satisfactory, Once Human, and even Banana.
Moreover, many of Valve’s own games are currently thriving. Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2 hold the top two positions on Steam’s Most Played list. Notably, Valve’s unannounced game, Deadlock, has secured the 10th spot as well, attracting more than 100,000 concurrent players, despite minimal acknowledgment from Valve regarding its existence.
With the upcoming release of several highly anticipated PC games later this fall and during the holiday season, these numbers are poised to rise even further. Expected titles such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Marvel Rivals, and various others may propel Steam to surpass 40 million online players soon.
