Star Wars: Hunters has introduced the formidable Zabrak character, Nox, through a recently launched Starter Pack for Switch and mobile users. This notable character joins the game following its soft launch in various regions and multiple delays. Developed by notable mobile game developers Zynga and Natural Motion, Star Wars: Hunters officially debuted on Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS in June 2023. The game expanded to PC with an Early Access release on Steam on January 27, 2023, after two extensive playtests.
Gameplay and Character Variety
Set in the expansive Star Wars universe, Star Wars: Hunters is a free-to-play multiplayer arena shooter that takes place after the fall of the Galactic Empire, as depicted at the conclusion of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Players can engage with a rich roster of characters, each inspired by the beloved archetypes from the franchise. This includes lightsaber-wielding Jedi, Sith, and various other familiar warriors such as Mandalorians and Jawas. Like other popular team-based games, each character possesses unique weapons and abilities, offering varying strategies to outmaneuver opponents.
Unveiling Nox – The Zabrak Assassin
Recently featured in a new trailer, Nox is now accessible as part of the Nox Starter Pack for Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. This horned assassin is classified as a Damage character, equipped with a bow and arrows. Nox is on a quest for vengeance against the sinister group that abducted her sister. Beyond her impressive archery skills, she employs poisons, delivering dangerous gases to her adversaries utilizing specialized arrows and a remote device. To enhance her mobility in combat, Nox also utilizes rocket boots, allowing her to hover short distances.
Nox Content Pack and Season 4 Release
Nox was originally introduced in Star Wars: Hunters Season 4, which brought an array of new features for users holding the All Access Arena Pass. Highlights include a new map set on the forest moon of Endor, an iconic battleground from Star Wars lore. Players can engage in a new game mode called Scrap Salvage, where they compete to gather the most scrap from defeated foes. Furthermore, players can unlock additional characters like Nox through the Hunter’s Path, a feature that rewards battle engagement with special tokens.
Reception and Future Updates
Despite receiving a mixed response, with a score of 60 on OpenCritic at launch, Star Wars: Hunters has cultivated a loyal player base. Zynga is committed to enhancing the gaming experience, planning to roll out more content in the future. The latest update in Season 5, titled “Scum and Villainy, ” introduced another character, Glikkin—a masked Kubaz thief capable of stealthily navigating battles thanks to a cloaking device.
