- Enthusiasts of guitar rhythm games remain active, continuously seeking new high scores and streaming content on platforms such as Twitch.
Gibson, the renowned guitar manufacturer, has partnered with accessory specialist CRKD to release two new guitar controllers suitable for a diverse array of gaming platforms. Both models draw inspiration from the legendary Gibson Les Paul design, making them perfect for gamers interested in classic rhythm titles like Guitar Hero as well as more recent offerings such as Fortnite Festival.
At the height of the rhythm game phenomenon, dedicated guitar controllers were essential for titles like Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Despite a drop in mainstream interest over the years, a loyal fanbase continues to embrace these games. Unfortunately, many original controllers have succumbed to wear and tear, been misplaced, or damaged, leading to a resurgence of demand for quality guitar controllers.
Gibson and CRKD have introduced two distinct models tailored for those nostalgic about guitar-based rhythm games: the CRKD Gibson Les Paul Guitar controllers. The LP Black Tribal Encore Edition and the LP Blueberry Burst Pro Edition each feature unique designs, yet share a range of impressive functionalities, including Hall Effect analog navigation sticks, both wired and wireless options, vibrant RGB lighting, a tilt sensor, an ergonomic D-Pad located on the headstock’s rear, and an upgradeable removable neck.
The more budget-friendly LP Black Tribal Encore Edition is available for $109.99 for the multi-platform version, while the Xbox/PC-specific model is priced at $119.99. This edition comes equipped with traditional rubber membrane fret buttons and a mechanical strum bar, aiming to recreate the familiar gameplay experience fans remember. In contrast, the LP Blueberry Burst Pro Edition retails for $119.99 and $129.99 respectively, boasting mechanical fret buttons and a Hall Effect strum bar featuring haptic feedback. Both models are currently up for pre-order and are anticipated to ship by June 2025. Customers who pre-order will receive a stylish purple-orange ombre guitar strap and an exclusive collectible pin.
The Enduring Appeal of Guitar Rhythm Games
While the initial fervor surrounding games like Guitar Hero has waned, these titles remain relevant within the gaming community. Beyond the established classics, gamers are discovering new experiences with titles like Clone Hero, which are fully compatible with the newly released controllers. In fact, passionate fans are consistently breaking Guitar Hero records and sharing their gameplay live on platforms such as Twitch. This activity not only revitalizes interest in these beloved games but also encourages newcomers to experience the thrill of playing through quality guitar controllers.
