Resident Evil 9: Anticipated Reveal and Launch Timeline

According to insider Dusk Golem, recognized for his reliable insights on CAPCOM’s release plans, Resident Evil 9 is projected for a reveal in 2025 and a subsequent launch in 2026. On the platform X, he shared his expectations regarding the game’s announcement and release schedule.

It’s almost 100% for sure being revealed this year and releasing next year. Doubt they’ll delay more. The question comes if its being revealed this summer or at TGA for example this year, & if its releasing this fiscal year (ending March 31st, 2026) or next fiscal year late 2026.

Setting and Gameplay Innovations

Dusk Golem has previously hinted that Resident Evil 9 will be primarily set on a fictional island inspired by Singapore, featuring a rural town environment. This thematic choice recalls elements from both Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Village, which showcased rural settings in Spain and Romania, respectively. However, a Southeast Asian backdrop promises to introduce a unique cultural atmosphere to the franchise.

Interestingly, last year Golem also mentioned that both Resident Evil 9 and the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds would be open-world titles. Given that Monster Hunter Wilds was successfully launched in late February and embraced an open-world design, it lends credibility to Golem’s insights regarding Resident Evil 9’s gameplay transformation.

Creative Direction Under CAPCOM

Recent updates from Dusk Golem shed light on the extended development timeline for Resident Evil 9. CAPCOM appears to be reinventing the celebrated series, incorporating innovative elements reminiscent of the transformations witnessed in Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil VII. Fans seeking the traditional mechanics of Resident Evil Village may need to adjust their expectations, particularly regarding the game’s perspective, which remains uncertain.

Potential Reveal Venues

When considering when CAPCOM could unveil Resident Evil 9, various opportunities arise for them. Possible venues include the upcoming Summer Game Fest scheduled for next month, Gamescom in August, and the Tokyo Game Show in September. Alternatively, the company might choose to keep fans in suspense until The Game Awards in December. However, delaying the reveal to that point could suggest a launch window extended into the latter half of 2026.

As anticipation builds for this next installment in the Resident Evil series, fans are eager to see how CAPCOM will balance nostalgia with innovative gameplay mechanics. For further updates on this much-anticipated title, keep an eye on developments from credible insiders and official announcements.
