Nintendo has officially announced the much-anticipated release date for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which will be available on both the Switch and Switch 2. Initially hinted to be released in late 2025, the game is now scheduled to launch globally on October 16, 2025. Alongside this announcement, Nintendo revealed the game’s box art, generating excitement among fans.

Cover Art and Gameplay Insights

The teaser image for the game’s cover presents a stunning view of Lumiose City after dark. It emphasizes a dynamic environment where Pokémon can roam freely, featuring Gardevoir alongside players engaged in a battle against an opponent wielding Mega Lucario. This visual suggests that, similar to Pokémon Legends: Arceus, players will experience Pokémon battles in urban settings, blending community interaction with competitive gameplay. Notably, the game will also showcase all three starter Pokémon: Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile, alongside various trainer options.

Social Media Announcements and Game Features

Further announcements shared on social media channels revealed key features that enhance the gaming experience. The Pokémon series account confirmed improved graphics and frame rates for the Switch 2 version of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, while also stating that Switch users will have the opportunity to purchase an upgrade pack. Moreover, the Japanese Pokémon account detailed that digital pre-orders will commence on the eShop in Japan on June 5, 2025, coinciding with the Switch 2 launch. Physical pre-orders are expected to open shortly after, on July 23, 2025.
