Have you ever traversed the challenging landscapes of a Soulsborne game and found yourself yearning to experience that exhilarating pain again? I certainly have. This genre thrives on the compelling nature of repeated playthroughs, showcasing various styles, an arsenal of weapons, and self-imposed challenge runs that continually lure players back into its enigmatic worlds.

Fortunately, the grind doesn’t have to feel like a complete waste of time. Enter achievements. These unique objectives often compel players to explore every corner of the game, revealing hidden paths, secret endings, and elusive trinkets tucked behind Illusory walls.

Of course, this is FromSoftware we’re discussing, and you can bet that the journey to complete these achievements won’t be an easy one. Prepare to invest considerable time and effort if you aim for full completion.

7 Elden Ring: Nightreign

A 100% Walk In The Park

Nightreign introduces a distinct challenge compared to its predecessors. It emphasizes collaboration, encouraging players to team up for a fuller experience, although solo play remains an option. Yet, despite this new dynamic, the game’s achievements are surprisingly approachable.

Most achievements can be obtained simply by progressing through the game and defeating bosses. The one notable exception, The Champion’s Path, requires that you conquer a Nightlord with each character. While certain Nightfarers are undeniably easier to master than others, a handy tip is to defeat Gladius eight times for a guaranteed achievement. This little gem isn’t highlighted in the achievement list!

6 Ring of Fire

Where Time Whittles Away

Returning to the realm of Elden Ring, this title stands out for its expansive world and relatively accessible achievements. A glance at Steam’s global achievement stats reveals that while the 100% completion rate for Elden Ring and Nightreign floats around 10%, titles like Dark Souls linger between 3% and 5%.

This accessibility arises from the game’s structure, which doesn’t require players to amass every imaginable weapon or spell. Instead, players need to focus on acquiring specific “Legendary” items, making the quest for achievements a more streamlined endeavor. Impressively, the rarest achievement is linked to a questline rather than an exhaustive collection.

5 Dark Souls 1

Sif… I’m Sorry I Have to Keep Doing This

Dark Souls 1 sets the stage for true completionism. While it’s not the most challenging title due to its age and comparatively simpler bosses, the achievement list demands substantial commitment.

Take, for example, the Knight’s Honor achievement, which tasks players with collecting every rare weapon in the game. But what defines a “rare” weapon? Categories include Boss Souls weapons, unique items dropped by enemies like the Channeler’s Trident, and more obtained from chests.

While it may not seem daunting initially, players will face the need to acquire three versions of Artorius’ Sword, each requiring a Soul of Sif. This means three separate playthroughs, all with the same character. Breathe deep – you can do this!

4 Bloodborne

Only Those With Insight Can See The Truth

As we transition into Bloodborne, the difficulty ramps up considerably. Several bosses pose a significant challenge, especially for players accustomed to the measured pace of Dark Souls.

This challenge intensifies when you include achievements introduced in the DLC. The infamous Fishing Hamlet sharks can be quite fearsome. While the Orphan of Kos may test your abilities, the true grind derives from navigating the Chalice Dungeons, which are both frustrating and repetitive. Perseverance is key if you aim to reach the Queen.

3 Demon’s Souls

May The Gods of RNG Be Ever In Your Favor

If you revel in the idea of repeatedly slaying the same foe for a chance at rare loot, then Demon’s Souls may be your playground. Despite its forgiving bosses, the game houses certain achievements that fluctuate between having a low entry barrier and being maddeningly difficult, depending on your luck and mastery of game mechanics.

For instance, fully upgrading a sharp weapon requires obtaining Pure Bladestone, which has a low drop rate from a specific skeleton. If fortune smiles upon you and you acquire it on your initial attempt, you still must contend with collection trophies linked to spells. Earning the Sages’ and Saints’ trophies necessitates two playthroughs due to the multi-boss soul requirement, and that’s assuming you’re well-versed in the game’s intricacies.

2 Dark Souls 2

2 Versions, Double The Pain

Covenants in Dark Souls are fascinating yet tedious. They enrich the lore and grant players factions, but many achievements require you to maximize your rank within these groups to achieve 100% completion.

Numerous spells are locked behind covenant commitments. For example, to earn Hidden Weapon, you need to reach rank 2 in the Bell Bearing Covenant and collect 30 Sunlight Medals for the Sunlight Spear ranked at 3. With the current player base dwindling, achieving this becomes a lengthy solo endeavor.

1 Dark Souls 3

Where True Dedication Is Tested

Behold, the ultimate test of your dedication among the Soulsborne series. While it is known for its punishing nature, the thrill of the challenge ensures that the grind remains enjoyable.

Dark Souls 3 combines elements from its predecessors, featuring heightened combat difficulty, requiring multiple playthroughs, and tedious covenant grinding. Unlike earlier titles, it packs in all these elements, creating an extensive gameplay experience.

Having achieved 100% upon release, I can attest that the PvP community made objectives like gathering 30 Concords for the Blades of the Darkmoon more manageable. However, if you’re unable to engage in PvP, prepare to grind out hundreds of Silver Knights with top-tier item discovery.

As if that weren’t enough, the Master of Rings achievement necessitates collecting every ring, including all +1 and +2 variants – totaling 107 rings. This requires defeating the Nameless King on NG++ for access to them all. Keep in mind that DLC rings do not count towards this achievement. Silver linings, right?
