Upcoming Changes in Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Collision Point

As Rainbow Six Siege approaches the conclusion of its ninth year of continuous updates, players eagerly anticipate the release of the Operation Collision Point seasonal update. While this update does not introduce a new operator or map, it promises significant enhancements, including a revamped Blackbeard, matchmaking upgrades, cross-platform play, and other exciting features from Ubisoft.

Blackbeard’s Transformation

The reworked Blackbeard will bid farewell to his iconic gun shield, embracing a new role as a protective shield operator. Unlike his predecessors, Blackbeard will utilize the innovative Hall Adaptive Shield, which offers bullet-proof capability while allowing access to a primary weapon. This new design lets players aim down sights with the shield, retracting it swiftly to facilitate shooting. Additionally, Blackbeard can now breach soft walls with a new bash action.

Balance Adjustments for Shields

In addition to Blackbeard’s rework, the upcoming update will implement vital balance adjustments for shield operators. Players will notice that melee attacks on a shield will now stagger the user more effectively and consistently. The intensity of this stagger increases with each hit, and the suppression effect triggered by incoming fire will activate with fewer shots than before, enhancing gameplay dynamics.

Enhanced Crossplay Experience

A notable addition is the introduction of crossplay, allowing PC and console players to engage in matches together. However, the matchmaking rules stipulate that if a party includes a single PC player, that team will exclusively face other PC players. Matchmaking improvements will also feature rebalance adjustments before matches, automated cancellations in the event of detected cheating, and shifting console players using mouse and keyboard controls into appropriate PC matchmaking pools.

Operator Adjustments

Additionally, player experience will be impacted by changes to key operators. Ying will see her gadget’s flash detonations delayed, while Sens will gain the ability to toggle the light barrier at will and block more gadgets previously capable of peeking through it.

AI-Powered Chat Moderation

Ubisoft is also leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance chat moderation within the game. Disruptive language will be flagged for developer review or removed entirely, while players sending multiple disruptive messages will face muting for the remainder of the match. Notably, a player repeatedly using inappropriate language across matches could face a significant 20-match mute penalty.

Release Date and Testing Phase

Mark your calendars: Rainbow Six Siege Year 9 Season 4: Operation Collision Point is scheduled for release on December 3, 2024. Prior to this full launch, a test server will be activated, allowing Ubisoft to fine-tune the reworks and enhancements based on player feedback.
