Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii introduces an engaging cooking system that enables players to prepare various dishes that offer unique benefits. To create these meals, players must first gather essential ingredients, which include diverse types like fish and insects. This guide will provide a comprehensive overview of how players can effectively gather these key resources.

In addition, this guide highlights certain features available from Chapter 2 onwards. For players keen on experiencing these elements firsthand, it’s crucial to note that numerous tools for catching fish and insects become accessible during the storyline progression in Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.

Catching Fish in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii

Fishing in the Ocean

Players can immerse themselves in the ocean to catch fish directly by hand. There are multiple entry points, specifically from the Beach on the east side of Rich Island and Aloha Beach on the southern part of the Hawaii map. This method is particularly beneficial for early-game fishing enthusiasts looking to boost their ingredient stock.

Utilizing Nets

In Chapter 2, players will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Hawaii-based characters, Clark and Julie, to enhance Majima’s ship. After gathering sufficient funds and recruits, players can upgrade the Goromaru, integrating new features, including the option to attach fishing nets. Players can access this feature by boarding the Goromaru, switching to “Deck Mode, ”and selecting the net icon located near the steering wheel.

While sailing, players will come across various containers that yield nets, specifically the “Fishing Nets.” By the time players are ready to attach nets to their ship, they will likely have a collection of these nets. Once installed, a distance indicator will appear above the net icon, denoting how far the ship needs to travel before it can catch fish. Players should navigate until this counter reaches zero, then activate “Deck Mode”to retrieve their catch.

Using the Chain Hook

As players enhance the Goromaru in Chapter 2, Julie will equip Majima with a versatile tool known as the Chain Hook. This device can be activated by holding LT, aiming with the right joystick, and pressing RT, and it serves multiple purposes. Notably, the Chain Hook allows players to snag fish from specific water sources, such as the river in Little Japan that flows into the ocean.

Catching Insects in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii

Insect Collection with the Chain Hook

The Chain Hook introduced by Julie serves as the primary tool for capturing insects in the game. This device can effortlessly pluck bugs both from the air and the ground. A prime location for insect hunting is Rich Island, where players can often spot various critters.

An added interaction comes from Goro, a tiger that may occasionally have an insect in its mouth. Although this method doesn’t yield a significant amount of bugs, players should take the opportunity to engage with Goro whenever its mouth glows to collect any available insects.
