Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – How to Obtain Charcoal

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, players encounter a diverse array of crafting materials essential for both Alchemy and Blacksmithing. Managing your inventory is crucial since you’ll be gathering substantial amounts of these resources and seeking suitable storage solutions as you progress through the game.
While many herbs can be foraged throughout the world, some materials, like Charcoal, require specific strategies to acquire. You can find Charcoal in select locations, or you may choose to purchase it from merchants. Below, we provide guidance on where to buy and find Charcoal in the game.
Where to Buy Charcoal in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Purchasing Charcoal from merchants is the most straightforward approach due to its versatility in crafting. A number of merchants, particularly in the early sections of the game, offer Charcoal for sale. Here are some notable early-game locations where you can find Charcoal:
- Merchant Jurg Thomel in Troskowitz
- Apothecary Emmerich in Troskowitz
- Blacksmith Radovan in Tachov
When buying crafting materials, especially in bulk, it’s advantageous to cultivate a positive reputation among merchants to secure the best prices. These three vendors are located conveniently close to each other, allowing you to quickly deplete their stocks if needed. If you do exhaust their supplies, simply wait a few in-game days, and their inventory will refresh, ready for your next shopping trip.

In addition to purchasing, Charcoal can also be found in the wild, either on defeated enemies or within certain chests. Notably, early in the game, there’s an opportunity to collect a significant amount of Charcoal for free. From Troskowitz, follow the main road heading east. Continue until you reach the fast-travel point for Apollonia, then head south past the rancher’s hut.
In the forest, you will discover the Unfinished Cottage, which is marked on your map. A locked chest will be located along the back wall, while a small bag of Charcoal can be found just to the right of it. By looting this bag, players can acquire 50 Charcoal at no cost—and most importantly—without stealing. Since this is a considerable amount, remember to manage your inventory effectively to prevent overloading your carry capacity.
