A common question that many gamers have is whether the EA App is required to play Dragon Age: The Veilguard. In today’s gaming landscape, most major publishers, including EA, often demand that players use a third-party application. This has been the case with BioWare’s previous releases, which required the EA App to be downloaded and installed.

Fortunately, with Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you will not need to download the EA App. The game is classified as ‘Steam Native,’ which means it does not rely on another launcher. As with titles like Dead Space Remake, if you’ve acquired Veilguard through Valve’s Steam platform, there’s no need for the EA App.

The official Twitter account for Dragon Age has verified that the EA App is unnecessary for playing Dragon Age: The Veilguard. This title is designed to operate natively on Steam, similar to several recent EA releases that do not mandate a third-party launcher.

Additionally, Dragon Age: The Veilguard does not include anti-piracy DRM protections like Denuvo, which are often associated with performance drawbacks. However, this advantage does come with a limitation: PC players will not have the capability to pre-load the game prior to its launch. In contrast, users on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S can pre-load. For PC gamers, the download will become available upon the game’s release on October 31, 2024, at 9 AM PT/ 12 PM EDT.
