Tameem Antoniades, the director of Hellblade and co-founder of Ninja Theory, has departed from the studio now owned by Microsoft.

Today, there have been many updates and announcements about Hellblade 2, leading up to its launch next month. As reported earlier, the game’s combat will have a cinematic feel, immersing players in an experience reminiscent of a top-notch indie film. Additionally, it has been confirmed that the highly-awaited sequel will run at a cinematic 30FPS on Xbox Series X|S.

It has been revealed in an article from Polygon that Antoniades, the writer and director of vibrant Hellblade, has departed from Ninja Theory. This was later confirmed by an Xbox spokesperson to Polygon, stating that the co-founder has left the Cambridge-based studio. While Antoniades was briefly involved in the development of Hellblade 2, the creative direction has now been taken over by environment art director Dan Attwell, visual effects director Mark Slater-Tunstill, and audio director David Garcia.

There is currently no additional information available regarding Antoniades’ departure from Ninja Theory. It will be intriguing to discover the future plans of the former co-founder. As soon as any new details emerge, we will provide an update.

The release date for Hellblade is set for May 21st next month, coming to both PC and Xbox Series X|S.
