Heart Machine, the studio behind the popular title Hyper Light Breaker, has revealed that the game’s first substantial update, named “Buried Below, ”is set to launch on April 29, 2025. This follows the game’s Early Access debut earlier this year and promises to bring exciting new features for players.

New Breaker and Gameplay Enhancements

The “Buried Below”update will introduce an intriguing new character known as Rondo, along with a new SyCom that features two unique perks. Players can also look forward to the addition of a new crown called Maw, two new melee weapons, and a variety of new environments, highlighting expansive cave systems to explore.

Significant Overhaul and Quality-of-Life Updates

In a recent press release, Heart Machine described this update as “the most significant feature overhaul yet, ”indicating a complete reconfiguration of the game’s run structure. A major change involves enforcing a one-life-per-run system, which means players will lose their inventory items and reset the Overgrowth upon dying. This adjustment aims to fine-tune the game’s difficulty, making it more accessible for newcomers while still presenting a challenge for seasoned players.

Innovative Gameplay Loops and Enhanced Player Experience

The update will also introduce fresh gameplay loops, including alternative methods for exiting the Overgrowth and a revamped SyCom system that aligns more closely with class-based mechanics. Additionally, there will be improvements to the vendor system and player inventory management, streamlining the overall gameplay experience.
