Necesse diverges from traditional RPG structures by prioritizing player freedom over linear progression. Instead of a relentless questing system, it offers a more laid-back approach, allowing gamers to explore the world at their own pace while tackling one quest at a time. This design empowers players to engage with the game in a manner they find most enjoyable.
One of the key elements that signify progress in Necesse is the engagement with formidable bosses. Defeating these bosses not only challenges players but also rewards them with unique drops that are unattainable through other means. The first major encounter is with Evil’s Protector, a significant challenge for newcomers.
Summoning Evil’s Protector in Necesse
Evil’s Protector manifests as a large flying beast that appears exclusively at night, retreating at dawn. Players can summon this boss using a Mysterious Portal, which can be sourced from various underground mobs or from night-spawned enemies on the surface. Additionally, these portals can be found in chests located in forest caves. After the initial defeat of Evil’s Protector, players have the option to craft the portal for subsequent battles.
Strategies to Defeat Evil’s Protector
While Evil’s Protector lacks distinct attack phases, it does introduce new abilities as its health diminishes. Initially, the boss attacks intermittently by launching three expanding fireballs in a cone shape. Staying near the monster while being agile can help players avoid these attacks.
- As its health drops to around two-thirds, Evil’s Protector ascends and starts raining down fireballs, indicated by small red dots on the ground, which signal their landing spots. Players can dodge these attacks with relative ease. When it comes back down, the pattern continues, now enhanced by the introduction of honing bullets that pursue the player.
Additionally, two portals spawn nearby, releasing minions periodically. It is advisable to destroy these portals to avoid distractions during critical battle moments.
- Upon reaching one-third of its health, Evil’s Protector unleashes a devastating attack sequence, shooting out 16 fireballs in a circular area around itself. Players can evade these by dashing quickly or positioning themselves strategically between fireballs.
This relentless pattern continues until Evil’s Protector is defeated. Players should be cautious since if they fail to vanquish it by dawn, it will escape and return with full health for the next encounter.
Drops After Defeating Evil’s Protector
Upon defeating Evil’s Protector for the first time, players will receive a Demon Heart. Subsequent defeats will yield one of four foci trinkets, along with 12 Demonic Bars and a Force of Wind.
Combining all four foci results in a balanced focus that boosts all damage dealt by 15%.The Demonic Bars are essential for upgrading workbenches and anvils, paving the way for crafting advanced equipment required for future challenges in the game.
